And dems de points

FT 3-0.

Lyon dominated the opening 30 mins and really deserved their mammoth lead. Real dominated the second half, but Lyon were just too good in defence, and Real couldn't find a way through.

Great win for the home side. :)

What a spanking..... All the sweeter with all of their "history" they make us so aware of. The days of Real dominating are quickly becoming ancient history though. There is a new show in town. Allez Lyon!

Yes, the return game will be a different story.
Real will be a lot more dangerous at home,
players like Ronaldo, Zidane probably back
from injuries, etc.
Looking forward to it in any case.

Lyon-Real Madrid 94' And they head down the other end on the break, following a good challenge from Braaten, and STORFLOR is away all on his own! HE ROUNDS THE KEEPER easily and SLOTS into the open goal! 3-1!

Ah Ah ah!!!!!!!

Well, technically Real didn't dominate from the mid-50's to the late '90's so that's nothing new. ;)

But wow...great result for Lyon. Hats off to them.

I still don't like Wiltord, though. :D

I think Houllier deserves credit for puting the right lineup out there. I know some people wanted Fred to start and some people didnt have Tiago starting but Houllier proved he knew what he was doing. The only surprise to me was he had Wiltord starting over Sidney but that proved to be a good move since Wiltord scored. Having Tiago start and going with 1 striker(Carew) was what I thought would be best and it turned out well.
