Raul is going to play tonight,no doubt.
Yesterday it was said Beckham was almost certainly out for the game, but last reports say he may play.
He is doubftoul but I think it's more likely he will play.

What an astute observation.....
With Real's defense, I want Carew and Fred on the field together. They've got more holes than Swiss cheeze on their back line.

Carew spearhead
Norwegian international Carew is set to spearhead the Lyon attack, with Florent Malouda and Sylvain Wiltord occupying the flanks and Tiago stepping into the midfield alongside Juninho Pernambucano and Mahamadou Diarra.
Cris crisis
Houllier, however, has some problems in defence where Eric Abidal is a long-term absentee and centre-half Cris is doubtful with a knee injury sustained in Saturday's 2-1 home win against AS Monaco FC. Jérémy Berthod will continue to deputise at left-back, while Monsoreau should replace Cris if the Brazilian fails a late fitness test. "We're all hoping Cris plays," said Lyon captain Claudio Caçapa. "It'd be a shame to lose him for such an important match."

Real should win today. It will not be a walk in the park but then again Real is Real and Lyon is Lyon two great teams but real has the advantage of 35 seasons in the CL 9 titles playing 283 games and scoring 626 goals. Lyon 6 seasons 0 titles, 48 games played, and scoring 82 times. With no Ronaldo, No Zizou, Becks doubtful it's gonna be hard for them to win with class.

faulty logic. how many of the players on tonight's real squad have played in all those 35 seasons?
how many have even lifted one trophy (of any kind) at real? ;)

perfect point but what i am trying to say is that there is already the perception that it is mighty real madrid and lyon might choke. Same thing when a team meets brazil during the world cup. The big teams tend to do it big in big competitions. But u do make a valid point. it's the aura and the atmosphere around the teams.

It will be all the sweeter to kick you bastards in the teeth after spending 80 million Euros this summer.
Your history will have little effect on the players that will be on the pitch today. I don't think Fred, Carew, Juninho, or Malouda give a ******** about your history. If this was all about history then Red Star Belgrade, and Steaua Bucharest would both be better teams than Chelsea and Lyon. Oh, and Nottingham Forest as well. LOL.

will be a very tight game in my opinion. i would be happy with a draw.
houllier is one of my favourite managers, and if you look at the other team i support you will see why. greatest respect for gerard, fantastic guy he is.
no ronnie or zizou tonight, and becks is doutful, thats a handful of CL experience lost.
the RM fan before sayin about our history, but if you look, robinho (played 2 games in la liga thats all for his euro football) baptista (same as robinho) ramos (inexperienced), garcia if he plays lacks experience in CL, guti despite his medals has only been bit part player for last few seasons, tommy graveson has played with real for what? 6 months since signing for everton.
althought these players are mostly full tim internationals they do not carry the same experience in this competition that ronnie, zizou, becks, figo solari etc all brought last year. this is what makes it interseting for me. this could be good and bad for real. the players could be keen to prove themselves and put in 110% or bottle it a bit under pressure of CL.
all in all i think real will probably struggle, but with the inventiveness you can never rule us out.
i hope for a good game

Casillas,Salgado and Helguera have won 2 Champions League at Real.
R.Carlos and Raul have won 4.
Guti,if he finally is in the starting XI,has won 3 CL at Real.
In not going to talk about domestic tittles because the match starts in 2 hours and 45 minutes and I want to watch it.

Well, they all looked silly against Monaco a couple of years ago.... And Monaco isn't Lyon by any means.
