We need at least 10 regular posters. I thought we had that many, so speak up if you have been quiet so far.

Helg, Craig, do this.

Off topic, but, Bluto, good luck in the series...may the best team win:)
yup. congrats on the win. I think it's great that one team has never been to the World Series ever and the other hasn't one it since 1917. It means a lot to both teams. should be a great series! I think the Stros will take it in 5 though.

well, i've completly redone my lineup for this match on friday. i've changed the order and actually set guys to different orders besides normal. I'm giving my new youth pull a run out at bowling. He's feeble with respectable concistency, but his stamina is worthless. I've got him set to defensive, he's a spin bowler. I was going to give a different bowler a debut (RM bowler,competant/respectable, woeful stamina) but he's at feeble form, so I'm not sure how important form can be. anyone want to give me a tip on it? I've got a slow pitch, so it doesn't really matter if its spin or seam. If I go with the debut to the seamer I'll have no spin bowlers

In my experience, form is very important so I'd avoid playing the feeble form player.

For your player with bad stamina -- make sure he is not bowling straight through without a break in his 10 overs. In one of the IRC chat sessions Allan indicated that players do recover a marginal amount of stamina when they take a break from bowling. IIRC the #4 slot in the default orders bowls right through. So you might want to check that.

Consider it a half inning in baseball. The bowler (pitcher) delivers six balls (possibly more but we won't go into that) in each half inning. There are 50 overs per game so in essence the fielding team has to field 300 balls.

Bowler #1 bowls (pitches) six balls; after the sixth ball that is the end of one over.

Bowler #2 then does the same thing from the other end of the pitch. When he is done with his six balls that is two overs completed.

In battrick's 50 over format, 5 bowlers get 10 overs each.

Does Battrick have a problem logging people off? Or after a set timelimit does it boot you? Six of the seven other teams in my division are Online no matter when I log on and check. These people have to have a serious addiction problem if they are on-line at Battrick all day.

I saw a note about that online thing -- I think it shows that you have been on in the last 24 hrs or something.

A friend of mine posted in my guestbook recently asking me why I wasn't at a Wizards game recently cos Battrick showed him I was online during the game -- I was at Arrowhead -- but I had been on the site earlier that day. It is confusing.

i think everyone is listed as online for Battrick, regardless. At least there is the "online!" next to your username all the time

Its difficult to get a feel for who is active and who isn't in your division.

yup. but if you click on the username for the team you are going to be playing it says the last time they were online. the guy i'm playing tomorrow hasn't been online since Aug 14th. should i even mess with my team for this match?

How do his ratings compare to yours? May give you room to experiment if it looks like an easy win.

elciclon, the first few pages of this thread (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=193149&highlight=Battrick) are almost entirely questions such as yours, including an explanation of overs.

Hang in there elciclon, I joined halfway through last season and I've got a decent understanding of things now. Don't feel so lost.

After I was able to read some of my match commentaries, I began to figure out how things worked... you will too.
