Howdy. I'm-a brand-spankin' new to this. Any advice on what (not) to do? Primarily, what's considered to be a worthwhile level of skill for a player?I would say that you should be shooting for a minimum of mediocre in primary skills, with no more than, say, three or four players in your order below that level in batting skill. The last part may be tricky, as you'll be looking for at least one decent all-around bowler and a wicket keeper who isn't totally hapless at the bat.

I got a II opponent in the cup, but he looks beatable. He only won his last match against a III opponent on the final ball.

The training happened this week so Is there any way for me to view how much the player I was training improved?

I use the java tool, much easier to use. Very limited, but it tracks changes perfectly.
Got a batting pop, so I have an all rounder who is now competent bowler/competent batting.
Had my 18 yo w/k pop to "quality" concentration -- still need to get his batting up though, still at feeble.
And my respectable spinner popped to mediocre consistency. :D

ok i got my team so i got a coupler of questions, well firsdt i see that i lost all three games but only by a 1-5 run margin orat least from my knowledge of cricket thats what it appears so im not going to buy or spend any money at the moment (since i only have 200.000), but trainning doesnt train a specific area, if so where do i change it, (i went to nets and i click on trainning sessions and it said set.) second on orders it says b1,b2 ect, what is that.? and how many coaches respectivley shold i get.

The b1, b2...etc. is bowling order. Kinda like a pitching rotation in baseball, except all of 'em in the same game.
I think. I'm new at this too.

Right b1, b2, etc is the bowling order.
You will have 5 bowlers b1 through b5.
All 5 will bowl 10 overs in the match. I would just leave the order as default for now, it works fine and doesn't need to be messed with until you get more used to the game.
You have to hire the coaches you need before you set your nets. So go to club info, hire the coaches you want -- bowling, batting, fielding, w/keeping, etc.
Then when you go back to nets you will see the available nets sessions depending on the number of coaches you hired. The max is 10.

Everybody has the opportunity to bat, but they may not be called on. Once the 50 overs is up your turn at batting is done.
But essentially if you can find bowlers with any sort of batting ability hang onto them, they will be invaluable.
To start out with you are probably better spreading the load on your training slots. There are two schools of thought really, training a "super" player with multiple training spots and not much training for anyone else. Or, spread the training out amongst your players.
First, look at the squad you do have, identify anyone from say age 17-19 with skills in batting or bowling mediocre and above. You probably don't have many of them, they would be prime candidates for training.
After that you might look at 20 yo's or look on the transfer market. But don't spend too much money.

My theory on training is that a team always needs 5 good bowlers. I think I'm training three bowlers since the others are too old for it to do any good. I also spread the training around so that it's most effective. If you give a guy two batting sessions, that's not as effective as giving two guys a batting session each.
I think fitness training can also be useful. My best player (both bowling and batting) doesn't have great bowling and batting skills, but I think he makes up for it in the other areas, so I'm trying to get my best young player to a good stamina level and see if it helps him.

Sounds like a good theory to me.
It all depends (like hattrick to some degree) on what players you end up with when you first get your team.
If you have 4 17 yos with mediocre skills, get training. If you don't then you have to be a bit more creative.
Any newbies on here who want to post the stats of the younger players I am sure there are plenty of us willing to give advice on the training they need.

When you get a training pop and it says to fill in the "total at last pop" Should I put the skill level he just popped to or the level he was before he popped?
