The 90th Grey Cup, the CFL Championship, will be in Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium between the hometown Edmonton Eskimos and the Montreal Alouettes.

Get ready because this city is going to rock.

will CBC have a week long build up like last year? I liked those hour long "history of the CFL" shows.

I am sure CBC will be doing some thing this week.

Here are the scores from the weekend...

Eastern Final: Montreal 35 Toronto 18 (sellout 57,125)

Western Final: Edmonton 33 Winnipeg 30

Title of the thread should be "Grey Cup is set", not "CFL Championship".

Most Americans wouldn't understand what the Grey Cup is. I'm making it easier for them to understand it.

Oh, good for them then. How considerate.

I'm a red-blooded American, and I would've used Grey Cup in the title.

So, who's going to win?

Completely off the top of my head, I'm rooting for Edmonton. The fans in Edmonton already were disappointed once this year with the USWNT U-19 beating Canada in OT in Edmonton, so just as I hoped they'd go home unhappy then, I hope they go home happy now.

BTW, is Edmonton still the only CFL team with natural grass turf? Seems odd, considering they're the northernmost team, IIRC.

I think Jermaine Copeland will do some damage in an Alouettes victory ;).

Unofortunately, unless the hometown team is playing (here, anyways) or the Grey Cup is in your city, more people have Superbowl parties (complete with crappy Canadian ads)!!! :(:(

Wasn't there a Grey Cup in Edmonton a few years back, a night game no less, where the temperature was -20F or something? I mean, why on earth wouldn't they just rotate between the two domed stadia?

3 domed stadia (Montréal's Big O hosted in 2001).

Why? Because that would be LAME!!! People talk about the Fog Bowl in Toronto, the Staples Bowl in Montréal, the Blizzard Bowl in Hamilton and the 2002 Ice Bowl in Edmonton. Games like these create folklore and actually make where the game is played matter and stick in the fan's mind. Plus it gets every CFL city a chance to host a Grey Cup.

The Super Bowl and its always balmy temperature is getting lame, with its 5-or-so sites getting blurred in the public eye. People talk about that Ice Bowl in Green Bay in the 60's like it was the best thing around then turn around and go play in an asseptisised place like the Superdome.

No thanks! We like our football to be TRULY Canadian, winters included.
