Yes, Exorcist: The Beginning was disappointing, but I still enjoyed parts of it. The CGI used in it was horrible though. The Exorcist Part 3 is still my favorite in the series.

I'm not too concerned anymore about whether movies that claim to be based on a true story or not are accurate. As long as it's a good story and provides a few good jolts, I'm happy.

here in new york, i went to go see HISTORY OF VIOLENCE....
and i must say a no brainer on this one... really brutal / sensitive subject kids dont watch this to much violence.
i can see where david cronenberg was going in this move, but this is a type of movie that will have you saying hmmm...
to me the plot is thin... the acting was good.... the scenes were intense...
overall: jec 1 gives this baby a 7/10 worth seeing/only because its indepedent made in and around toronto. :D

I saw History of Violence last week and I thought it was quite the mind fuk. Good film and directed by Cronenberg, so expect a little weirdness in it. Needless to say some of the violence was quite realistic and brutal.
I agree with jec1 7/10

Best Movies of all I've seen so far im my life: All great movies. In No particular order.
1) Shawshank Redemption - this is like half the worlds favourite. I can watch this movie 1000 times
2) City of God: Brazilian movie, off-the-scale. Won an academy award I believe for foreign film. A fricken masterpiece about the drug world amongst adolescent kids in Rio de Janeiro.
3) Alien: The first Alien movie of the series: Segourney Weaver is the best female actress of all-time, she's also pretty hot these days - surprisingly.
4) Cool Hand Luke: One of the classic movies of all-time, with a young Paul Newman! "What we have here is a failure to communicate" - one of the classic lines of all-time.
5) Papillon: A great movie from the 70's with Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman, about prisoners trying to escape from an Island. Amazing performance by the two lead actors
6) GoodFellas: Martin Scorcese classic. Brutal violence but great insight into the mobword. Ray Leota, De Niro and Joe Peci with great performances.
7) Gattica: A sci-fi movie about genetic tampering with Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, and Jude Law. Great script, well directed, and good actors.
8) Pitch Black: A great sci-fi movie that has turned into a cult-classic among some. Vin Deisel and a bunch of great actors battle some alien life.
9) Rounders: A great gambling movie about No-Holdem Texas Poker with Matt Damon and Ed Norton
10) Unforgiven: Clint Eastwood directed and lead actor. What more needs to be said about this Western movie. Won an Oscar. Great movie!
11) The Elephant man: Very moving movie.
12) KingPin: All-time classic comedy with great performances by Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Hurley - a bowling movie.
13) Unusual Suspects: Kevin Spacey, Benicio Del Toro, etc. Great movie. Keeps you guessing!
14) Predator: All-time class with Arnold Swartzenegger. The second one sucks!
15) Gladiator: Great movie...Russel Crowe, Joaquin Pheonix.
16) Lord of the Rings Part 1: Won just about every Oscar on Oscar Night!
17) Braveheart
18) The Ghost and the Darkness: With Micheal Douglous and Val Kilmer. Great African Safari movie about 2 killer lions in Africa.
19) Fire and Ice: A cartoon movie before its time. Came out in 1980 or so. Great animation and characters have a personality of their own and look real.
20) Sleepers: Great movie...great cast, DeNiro, Hoffman, Pitt, etc. About a bunch of boys sent to a detention centre and brutally raped, grow into adults and seek their vengance.
I'm probably missing a few, theres probably 100's if not 1000's of great movies that I haven't seen...foreign films too.
