Is Greg Vanney the worst soccer player on the face of the planet???
This guy should never get another look with the National Team... his speed (if he ever had any sort of speed) is gone and he is reduced to being a marginal (at best) central defender (and there are about 92 players i'd rather see at central defense with #92 being Kle Kooiman)... as an outside back, he is a complete disaster (there are about 108 different players i'd rather see at outside back including #108, Steve Pittman)... Vanney tries to demonstrate "composure" on the ball but has nowhere near the ability to be as casual as he appears to be on the ball... please Bruce, no more of this joker...

There is actually a great deal of insight in this statement.

I used to halfway like Vanney's play, but there is no doubt that his ability and performance has taken a nosedive over the past few years. He has become a big liability on the left side for the USMNT.

I don't like bagging on players but that was a horrible display by Vanney tonight, and Albright was only marginally better.

Somewhere in London there is a kid with a mullet who's chance at a world cup in 2006 took a giant leap forward.

Greg Vanney, please claim your parting gifts at the door.
Save the gift, there could easily be another player to gain and lose that spot still.

I tend to be pretty forgiving of players, but Vanney was just brutal tonight, with and without the ball. Albright didn't do much with the ball, but his d was ok.

With Eddie Lewis getting the bulk of "important" minutes at LB lately, you'd have to think that Vanney is a bit far down on the list. He's not likely to see time at CB anymore and Boca is the better second choice on the left. I wouldn't worry too much about Vanney getting a sniff of the WC roster at this point.

Vanney did suck tonight. His suck game was over shadowed by our complete lack of putting away chances. Hello Twellman and EJ.

twellman is early in his career, he could still improve. these guys are on the downward slope of their careers and their NT careers should be over

Vanney, like Twellman, is not good enough for Germany

Underwhelmer's tonight were:
5. Quaranta (DC United)
4. Dempsey (NE Revolution)
3. Ralston (NE Revolution)
2. Vanney (FC Dallas)
1. TWELLMAN (NE Revolution)
It's amazing the Rev's have such a good MLS performance, while having such utter shite international players. Apparently the MLS line is just below the Ralston line.

Look, I'm no fan of Ralston's on the US nats, but c'mon, are we gonna bash his play over, what, 5 minutes tonight?
Agree with the rest, though the worst was Vanney for sure. Twellman was just the most disappointing.
