The question was posed by JP to 'Cello on tonight's broadcast.

The answer: obviously not.

WTF.

With an entirely new roster for tonight's game, why would Bruce pull JC at the 60th minute? Somebody please give me a reason to believe that there is: (1) no bias against a guy who has never truly had a shot--JC--and (2) no bias for a guy who keeps blowing the shots he continues and continues and continues to undeservedly get. Please tell me . . . .

Boy if that ain't the truth. Twellman messed up 3 chances tonight.

1. Blocks what would have been a certain goal from Cunningham.
2. Flubs what should have been a volley by trying to bring it off the chest (could have even headed it home)
3. Goal scramble he could have gotten to it.

JC got no service tonight. Twellman (and i'm going one step further and adding Dempsey who clearly does not finish well at the international level) as guys that REALLY need to either finish or be finished with the national team.

4. Sent half-volley over open goal and, thus, the crossbar from 4 or 5 yards out.

Twellman sucks.
Was that said as a United fan or as a concerned USMNT fan?

Well I'm not sure that Revs fans can complain anymore about Twellman deserving to play more/be able to start etc. It just doesn't work on the international level.

Can he settle a pass without knocking it six feet away from his body to where it gets stolen every time?
He is quickly becoming another Ante Razov, Jason Kries, or Conor Casey, nice club play, but just can't put the ball in the back of the net for the Nats

As a USMNT fan. He's a great MLS player. He's not good enough to go to Germany.

The worst thing was that I wanted to see if Jeffro could get on the end of a Landon through ball. He never got the chance.

1. Blocks what would have been a certain goal from Cunningham. He was part of the scenery, Cunningham has to miss him there same as he has to miss the Guatemalan players.

2. Flubs what should have been a volley by trying to bring it off the chest (could have even headed it home)Agreed completely.

3. Goal scramble he could have gotten to it.I don't see how you can conclude that.

I disagree with Balboa about the ball that Twellman kicked high -- it took an in-between hop and I think kicked higher than Twellman expected -- but you could argue he should have played that with his head rather than his foot.

Twellman sucks.

He's also a great MLS player.
And, yet, at the international level ...

Twellman sucks.

At the international level YOU'VE GOTTA, YOU'VE JUST GOTTA put that sh't away.

Twelman doesn't. He never has. I dare say he never will.

Did you guys see how obviously disapointed JC was and how hard he was trying to hide it, in returning to and sitting on the bench?

He could have played it with any part of his body (shin, chest, thigh, etc.)except his hand, and as long as it was headed in the direction of the goal, it would have went in.

I would have cried with joy had he recieved any service. Had it come from Landon, it would have been cake . . . so to speak.

I actually agree with the above statement. For a guy with such success on the MLS level, someone who's scored so many goals I'm still frequently frustrated by Twellman's lack of finishing prowess. He does a great job of creating goal scoring opportunties for himself and if there's a goal to be poached 9 times out of 10 he's got it. However even on the MLS level I'm seen him too many times beat the final defender only to completely miss or shoot right at the keeper.

Nevermind HIS disappointment. What about MY disappointment?

At the international level Cunningham sucks too.

Twellman needs to show that he can actually trap the ball, create his own shot, and maybe actually finish a chance at the international level..haven't seen any of those 3 yet.

I'm not sure, but I think that there is a technique in striking a ball which involves actually getting the body over the ball, or at least compensating with the foot when such a feat is otherwise impossible.

i think everyone agrees that Twellman will probably get one more chance (at home in Foxboro no less) to punch his ticket. I mean if you can't get it done in your own house, you probably aren't going to Germany.
