:) In it he thrashes the USMNT for sending a bunch of scrubs off to Guatemala. He points out that he thinks Convey and Dempsey are decent, but are nothing compared to the greats in Europe. He states that the USMNT plays boring unattractive soccer and it should dominate possession and take it to a CONCACAF minnow like the Guats. He also notes the lack of quality depth when compared to national teams like Brazil and Argentina. He notes that the USMNT fan base didn't travel well at all to this game and he thinks this game will always be fifth fiddle to NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB. He points out that MLS totally sucks as evidenced by the poor display by primarily MLS products. He stated that Arena was outclassed and should have given young european prospects like Spector, Demeritt, etc. opportunities instead of wasting them on mediocre MLS'ers like Vanney and Conrad. :)

He was right about giving Vanney and maybe one or two others time. But playing in Europe doesn't make you an automatic soccer god. And the game did bite, no pace, rythem, control, and we couldn't even out mark them. That said, still not a trecker fan.

You did notice that the original post was written BEFORE the US-Guatemala game, and was entirely tongue in cheek, right? A wonderful dig at Our Man Trecker.

No, saw "Trecker", just read a thread on him in the Crew Forum, and went to town. Slight blushing of face and withdrawal from thread.

Is this sonny boy, Daddy helping sonny boy, or daddy wrote this article. Either way they both are a bunch of arses and should leave us alone.

When is the last time this guy said anything positive about American soccer? He'd complain if we beat Brazil 2-0.

I just read his article in Fox Sports News. Talk about a bitter man. In the article he basically states that Bruce Arena is using mirrors to fool the rest of us about the USMNT.

I am sick of his drivel. Why is he so down on the USMNT? If I ever see him in public, I am going to give him an earful.

Jaime Trecker = Devil's Advocate.

Devil's Advocate
(dĕv’әlz ăd’vә-kāt) n. - One who argues against a popular cause or position, not as a committed opponent but simply to make people discuss and consider it in more detail.

Although in Jaime's case he probably IS a committed opponent. But once England gets eliminated in the playoff round, he might come around and support the US.

Here is the real Trecker post-match article. His comments on the game are the last few paragraphs: http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/4849582

I would say that this article is a fair and honest appraisal of the game last night, and the usmnt in general. Very unlike Jaime. Perhaps he reached puberty?

A couple of silly general digs in there, but his specific comments on the 5 players at the end seem right on the mark. (Disclosure - I haven't yet seen all the match, but those comments echo what I have seen, and what others on these boards are saying.)

i'd agree with trecker, arena has created a team which is better than the sum of its parts...

on the meat market, you wouldn't place usa as highly as it performs on the pitch....

Arena has done an amazing job since he took over from Steve Sampson and even those of us who can tell how much of it is being done with mirrors credit him with being a superb man manager of a group of athletes that have proved to be difficult to turn into world-class players.

Certainly has a high opinion of himself doesn't he? But doesn't Trecker get that in competitive sport you are what you are? There are no smoke and mirrors....if you get a win it is because you got the win...

Arena is all about "team". If Trecker just figured this out, then he is not that good of an observer.

I was disappointed that he didnt blame TT for purposely blocking Cunninghams sure goal in the first half. Taylor clearly stood right in the way  , never attempting to move, and by JC not scoring, it may have secured TT's staus on the WC roster. :(

Perhaps you could phone Jesse Jackson and add a racial aspect to your conspiracy theory.
