Trying unsuccessfully to keep from crying

It was just two months ago I saw little Tino at his first training camp! He looked so happy! All bright and shiny in his new suit! He was the new kid, a little lost, a little nervous.

Now he's the main players being intervied for a pre-qualifer publicity article!

Sobbing uncontrollably at this point

My baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fact that he was 9 during WC '94 makes me feel really OLD. :o

And sadly (from personal experience), that bit only gets worse from here on out.

If you had seen him dominate Colombia last March in Fullerton, you wouldn't be doubting the call up.

I am a little worried about this vieing to 'lock up" WC roster spots now.

A lot can happen in a year and Germany 2006 is about a YEAR away. We have the whole of the 2005-2006 season in Europe for players to develop (or get injured) or lose form. Also the first half of the 2006 MLS season is to be played before the WC and a lot can happen there too. Someone like Feilhaber could catch fire in Germany or Freddie Adu could become dominating in MLS. So those situations, if they occur, would demand a consideration for a World Cup spot even though such players arent in the frame against Guatemala, Cost Rica and Panama......
