anybody doing Cologne as a home base. Thats what i have in mind. So far the cheapest hotel is about 85USD per night (single).
Is anybody looking for an extra person for a flat? I'm thinking about flying out on 6/8 to Frankfurt and coming back on 6/28.

Does anyone know of any travel companies or travel groups that are arranging group travel and group tickets? I really want to get to Germany for the WC but I don't have anyone to go with (my friends could care less about soccer!)
any helpful info would be much appreciated. just pm me.

I just decided to attend some WC matches next summer. As I am too lazy to go through the many pages of postings here, I wonder if some kind souls can help me with the following questions.
1. If I want to watch the US team, how can I go about getting tickets? If there are multiple ways, which would be the better way (i.e., more likely that I will get my tickets). If I want to be lazy and have someone get my tickets as well as make my travel arrangements, which company should I check out?
2. If I want to watch teams other than the US, how should I go about getting tickets (and travel arrangements if I am lazy)?
I know that I am way behind in making arrangements. What is the chance that I can get tickets (without paying through my teeth)?
Thanks for your help.

US Soccer's allocation doesn't get distributed until after the draw, so you've still got a good shot at US tickets, as far as other teams are concerned, I don't know.

I have read here about Eurail pass - if you´re going to stay (mainly) in Germany a Germany-only-rail-pass should be much cheaper. There is much information on the official site of german rail (Deutsche Bahn).
http://www.bahn.de/-S:PtVORN:dDwmSN...ropeans.shtml#1
I think the "german rail pass" is pretty attractive. For 10 days of travel within a month it is 324 US-Dollar if to go alone, 243 US-Dollar (each) if you go with your buddy, and 110 US-Dollar (each) if you and your buddy are not older than 25. As I said: Seems pretty cheap to me (not to say very cheap - hey, why must I as a german pay so much more).

I was at the Houston airport and saw FeMexFut president, Alberto De La Torre walk past me. So I turned around and asked him what process Mexico's Fed took to distribute WC tixs. A-hole turns to me and just tells me that all of mexs tix are for sponsors and NONE for fans. No tix is for sale. I guess I respect the sponsors excuse but "NONE for fans" is bull crap if your a Mexico fan. I dont even want a Mexico ticket. I was just curious about the actual process (to compare it to US Soccer). I know that FeMexFut has more request than US soccer but come on. I thanked him for his time but regret not telling him that I cant wait to get to Germany and watch the US advance past MEX again. Ticket or no ticket!

That is very cheap, I know that I myself will want to go to the Czech Republic for a couple days and maybe stop in France as well. Maybe it'd be cheaper to get the german pass and just buy tickets to those places.

One other item - has any looked into the TSRR through FIFA?
The TSRR (at this point) gives you 12 nights scattered in the cities your team plays in. For examples, it would give you 4 nights in Berlin, 4 nights in Cologne, and 4 nights in Stuttgart assuming "your" team played in these cities. You choose the star level of hotel and they give you accommodations in the host cities.
Were these types of accommodations available for WC02?
Does anyone plan on buying these? If not, any insights?
Thanks!
I have USA TST-7s (scored on Aug. 23)
I bought the FIFA Accommodations package for the 1st round (via the FIFA web site). I will travel and be housed in the city where the US plays at least a day before, day of and day after the match. It may be a gamble... I may find myself in a hotel that charges by the hour... but what the hell.
It's a way to see Germany and not have to deal with mass Transit or same day train trips. Plus, I figure by the time Dec. 10 rolls around... I'll be screwed. So, instead of buying a room in one city for a month and taking trains around the country for day trips... I'd just let the FIFA Hotel Lottery place me where ever the USA plays. I'll decide later (before Dec.) whether or not to buy the rest of the rounds... or make my own accomodation plans.
If you've never been to Germany before (I spent a month there a few years ago), I might recommend this option. It's a beautiful country. And contrary to popular belief... the trains do not always run on time.

I need some help/advice please.
Going to Munich for June 18th game, and round of 16 on the 25th.
Leaving from Washington, D.C. (IAD).
Looking to book the flight before Dec. 9th. The best I am seeing for a flight to Munich is about $1,050 with one stop.
Any advice on a cheaper flight from DC?
