yea I saw them in the eurosport catalog and thought they were definately one of the ugliest boots ive ever seen. I'm also doubtful of their performance although I can't say cuz I've never tried them myself... but Pony is a baseball cleat brand as well I believe, so go figure...

These ones are not so ugly.

I wouldn't buy them anyways, though.

NNNNGGGHHHHHHH!!

Pony has been making football (soccer) boots for years!
Here's an NASL pic from 1979. Alan Green from the Washington Diplomats is wearing white Pony 6-bangers & getting deked out by Wim Suubier from my beloved Los Angeles Aztecs (RIP):

didn't Pele wear some pony boots?

Yes, when Pele was with the Cosmos. Pony was the "official" supplier of boots to the team. Pele has now come full circle back to Puma, which he wore in the '58 WC.

Maradona and Pele both wore Puma Kings at one point in their career...

Pony is now owned by Adidas I believe... It's either that or they've got some kind of relationship. Hence the split soles and stuff.

Well, Lotto Vento Concept has a split sole, but I don't think Lotto is owned by adidas.

This is correct, I had stated this in a pervious thread. I think it was in 2002 tht adidas bought Pony

Joined historically in that they both evolved out of the same company. Adi Dassler & his brother Rudi had a shoe business after the war (WWII). While Adi developed the business which eventually became adidas, Rudi left to start his own company, which became Puma. Both companies are totally independent of each other, but share a history between founders.

I like the heel counter's design, other than that they are boring...

see i was actually going to say that i didn't like the clear heel. it just doesnt match the shoe to me. i mean it looks nice, yeah, but i personally don't think it matches the shoe.

adidas just bought Reebok -- correct me if I am wrong.

But I had no clue that they owned Pony as well.

That is getting to be a pretty big company -- hopefully they will inject some Pony and Reebok uniforms to MLS with the adidas sponsorship taking full effect next year. 12 teams kitted out in adidas would be boring!

wouldn't be boring as long as they make different color-ways.

plus nike owns like 50% of the market where as adidas owns 35% i think, and reebok was like 10%, so it will pretty much be a 50/50 draw of nike and adidas. i like adidas more too, and would like to see them release a lightweight boot to compete with the vapor.
