they said his nickname was "crazylegs" - next time i'm in eindhoven, i'll ask if that's what his psv teammates call him
in dutch, i think that would be "gekkebenen" (pronounced CHek-e-ben-uh, with the "e" basically being a curt "uh" sound and the "CH" prounounced as it would be in the proper pronounciation of "chanukah")

I'll have to look for it tonight on CNNI over here -- but mind you, that's not a chore at all, but rather a pleasure, without a doubt!
Can't get enough of seeing that goal, or anything resembling a highlight from a great win for the USA.

I'm looking for a vid that shows the real play. All the vid I've seen follows the ball. I want to see the pick that Landon set on the man marking Beasley.
In lacrosse, this is called "pass pick away," and is generally done with the 3 midfielders up top.
Beas kicked to Landon, Landon passes up top, Landon picked the man guarding Beas who cuts across and receives the ball with nobody on him.

It was a great set play and clearly designed and practiced. Bruce was a great lacrosse player and it seems like he derives a lot of his tactics from that sport.

I play soccer in a Sunday league. I played soccer my whole life until the end of high school. Then I played lacrosse in college and grad school. The stuff I bring back to lacrosse makes defense easy, and helps my offensive positioning.
I never thought of doing that on a set play in soccer. Bruce is a genius.

It's not just a lacrosse play, any fan of half-court basketball (think of the Princeton back-door), jumped out of his seat when he saw Beasley make the hard cut to the goal.

You're absolutely correct. Basketball and lacrosse are basically the same.
My friend who played hoops in college was the one who noticed it. He was at home and was able to replay it at a better angle. But, in this instance, it is very similiar to a lacrosse midfield set up.

Hearin' Beasley say "I love America" and hearin' Kasey Keller chant "USA" with the fans sent a shiver up my spine.

Bump. To anyone who hasn't seen the vids at both links in this thread, check 'em out. Great memories for those who were there; a nice taste of the ambiance for those who weren't. I downloaded and saved both.
btw -- where did these clips come from?

Thanks for the links. That was a beautiful finish. Of course on Saturday night Sportscenter chose the Ralston goal for one of its Top Ten Plays.
