Arena was pleased with the play of his four defenders against Mexico, but the back line remains to be sorted out, especially the outside spots. Berhalter, rising star Oguchi Onyewu and veteran Eddie Pope -- when healthy -- are mainstays in the middle.

Frankie Hejduk, Steve Cherundolo and Carlos Bocanegra have experience and Eddie Lewis, usually a midfielder, played the last two qualifiers at left back. Chad Marshall and Chris Albright have seen considerable action of late. Pablo Mastroeni

Boy, it didn't take too long for this guy to forget who Cory Gibbs was.

All I can say, is my life is pretty plain;
And I like watching the puddles gather rain.

Is that the title reference?

Onyewu Is The American Minotaur-Goal.com (http://www.goal.com/NewsDetail.aspx?idNews=84041&idSez=19)

You could see the frustration on Borgetti’s face throughout the match. He simply had no answer for the Minotaur. He must have asked himself a dozen times that night how he could have volunteered for such an impossible task. But there he was a gladiator against an invincible opponent. Futilely, he fought valiantly. But Borgetti and his army of virgins lost.

How about the "predator"? Onyewu kind of resembles the charachter.

World famous director Spike Lee became Inter’s 40,000th season-ticket holder today, announced the Milan based club.

This is the second year in a row that Spike Lee owns a Nerazzurri season-ticket.

“Inter have the most elegant colors in the world of football,” he was quoted as saying a few months ago.

Bill would create state-run bond fund to build stadiums (for California) (http://www.bizjournals.com/industries/sports_business/general/2005/09/05/sacramento_story8.html?f=et183&hbx=e_vert)
This article does not have anything to do with the Earthquakes, but it might, since it lists AEG as a supporter of the bill.

From the "Americans Have Uncanny '06 Sense" article, Lopez states we took revenge for our 2-0 loss in Mexico City.
Wasn't that a 2-1 result?
