10 pts in three matches?as in CFA (and most amateur competitions in france, a win is 4 pts, a nil 2, a loss 1. basically you get a point just for showing up as an incentive not to forfeit.

OL Women 1 - CNFE 1

Farid Benstiti's girls gave up their second nil of the season to the Centre National de Formation et d'Entrainement. the score was 1-1, the lyonnais goal came from Sandrine Brétigny.

a 4-0 victory yesterday at La Roche sur Yon. the goals were by Delphine Blanc, Alix Faye and a double by last week's scorer, Sandrine Brétigny.

still no simone on the matchcard, and lorrie fair was in action with the USWNT.

a sour note, Gwenaelle Pelé was stretchered off with a broken nose. somehow it seems worse when it happens to a young lady...

after 2 straight 0-0's against leader Juvisy and Toulouse, OL was geared up for a result against reigning champion Montpellier. French international Sandrine Dussang was out (ankle) but Gwennaelle Pélé was back from last month's injury, and Brazilian Simone and American Lorrie Fair were present for respectively their second and third matches for les gônes.

on a field in Montpellier that was flooded in areas, a far cry from what they play on at home, the OL ladies had the best of the first half and were up 0-1 on a 35 metre goal from Ludivine Bruet.

The second half went... less well. after Sandrine Brétigny's red card, it was all Montpellier's way, and at the end it was 2-1 in a match where a win seemed a possible dream, a nil would have been welcome, and a loss was, finally, regrettable.

well, i really should spend more effort on keeping this thread up, especially since BS is largely an american board and women's soccer is big in the states... and is getting big in lyon.

in the past two weeks the OL distaff side has played three huge matches... first, they beat their n°1 rivals montpellier 3-0 to go 4 points clear with TWO matches in hand for the championship. an advantage they increased the next week beating the clairefontaine academy side 1-0 to pretty much sew up their FIRST title and the one place france gets for europe!

But as for the men, the knockout competition smiled on them less. they had looked unbeatable winning their semifinal match against tours 9-0  , but in the final it was montpellier, just like last year, who held up the cup at the end.

mind you there were heroics from our heroines: MHSC had taken a 2-0 lead, but sandrine dusang made it closer just on 45'... les montpelleraines seemed to clinch the match going up 3-1 with 10 minutes to play, but hoda lattaf (81e) et camille abily wouldn't say die, and scored on 81' and 88' to force a PK shootout in which montpellier crucified our ladies ... just like last year...:(

The once in a blue moon that I see this thread, I'm always hoping it's pictures of hot girls who support OL, who I would propose to in 1 second.

OL women got a great start on the UEFA women's cup by beating sala (SK) 12-0 and skiponjat (MKD) 10-0!

a lot of these girls already made the semifinals 2 years ago with montpellier, and say this club is much stronger, so OL has a very real chance of winning this!

I noticed that the website was making more of an effort to publish news on them. It would be nice if they included game recaps or at least pictures as well.

I noticed that the website was making more of an effort to publish news on them. It would be nice if they included game recaps or at least pictures as well.the problem is probably that olweb doesn't have anyone in macedonia to do it. for matches closer to home you get very good match reports and usually even a pic or two besides the stock photos.

i can't claim for certain that it was all due to me, but i raised a fuss on olweb a couple of years ago about the poor coverage of the distaff side, and since then they've been doing an excellent job, there's something about the women for every pre and post match, plus transfers, human interest, and they appear on OLTV too.

the new team pic is up (until recently i think they had the one from two seasons ago) and the roster is clickable.

http://www.olweb.fr/index.php?lng=fr&pid=204001

when OL took over the FC lyon women's teams, they clearly had big things in mind, including a second stadium (about 8000 seats) for them to share with the CFA team. looking at their progression it's a fair bet that on their level the women will as big or bigger than the men very soon.
