What other National Teams do you Like/Follow ?

I've always been of the impression that can only passionately follow ONE team per sport, but that you can support/like many.

I wonder if there are common teams that we all like or even dislike.

The only side I really dislike is Mexico.

I also follow root for Belgium, England, Australia, Israel, and Spain.

Support America and then Poland. They looked like ******** though second half in a 3-2 win versus Austria.

I cheer for England because I got into the sports thru BBC World Service radio... and I cheer for Israel because well, with Sean Green playing for Arizona and Jeff Agoos nearing the end of the road my people need someone to give us some athletic hope. :)

But when the USA played England I wanted us to demolish them... same would presumably be the case if we played Israel.

I'm only a fan of the USMNT, but I do hope that Israel succeed in qualifying for the World Cup. And if you haven't yet, I would suggest reading the article in Sports Illustrated about the two Arab Israelis playing for Israel's National Team, it really brings to light the situation of that squad, and if you have a heart you'll find yourself rooting for their unlikely qualification.

ahem, probably not too popular a choice, but I lived in France once, love the French culture/language(major Francophile here), so allez les bleus! (ducking tomatoes and freedom fries launched in my direction)

Also England since thats how I was introduced to the world of soccer beyond elementary school recess, and finally the Nederlands - first euro country I ever visited, and Davids was my idol for years.....

We took out Portugal and Mexico in WC '02 and Netherlands are next in WC '06. :D

I also follow the Romanian team. I was born there and came to the U.S when I was 9. Make no mistake though, if the U.S and Romania are on the same field, you'll find me with Sam's Army.

It's highly unlikely for Romania to qualify for WC '06, but there is a chance. They beat the Czechs 2:0 Saturday which was the perfect result since the Czechs beat Romania only 1:0 in Prague, but in order for Romania to earn a 2nd place playoff, they have to win their last game and the Czechs have to take only 4 points from their last 3 games. Unlikely.

I only care about the US.

I'll try to keep up with, although it's impossible to watch, the Botswana national team because one of my good friends from college is from there (and has now returned since graduating) and works in the government and is involved with their team.

I'll usually want to see Senegal, England and Croatia to win for no real reason other than I like to watch them play and some of their players interest me.

only Croatia, but I sympathize US since I've lived here a while :) Croatia games are pretty far tho, Iceland this weekend was close but plane tickets were around 2k... and I always thought IcelandAir advertised cheap planefare :/

If there was a trophy for the biggest underachiever on the world stage, they are surely a contender. (They did get raped in WC '02 vs. Korea though.)
