How does Eurosport weigh shoes cause I don't know if anybody realized but a bigger shoe weighs more. My guess is that they weigh a common size in all shoes (I'd say 9, which is actually my size in most shoes). Only problem with this is different shoes fit differently and all size 9's would not fit one person. Sorry if it's confusing.

thats a good question. everyone kind of uses almost the same weight for cleats. my guess would be the sample size which is a 9.

i actually emailed nike about this. nike says that their shoe weights are based on the size 9 shoe and that a shoe increasing in size increases in weight, but they didn't say how much weight. this led me to ask the question, if i have a size seven vapor without insoles, what weight are they really?

I figured size 9 cause of the whole sample thing (i learned samples were all 9's from another shoe site) and this is cool cause its the size i wear. Now all we need is some site that weighs every shoes every size, even insoles in and out.

and have all measurements in micrograms.

Why? You'll put them on and add 150 pounds to them anyway.

and do you think someone can swing their legs faster with something heavy on their feet, or something light? simple physics here people!

haha. simple physics also says that you will actually get more force (and power, speed) from something heavy on your foot! it may take slightly more energy to get it going but certainly has more impact!
F=ma (force=mass x acceleration).
not to mention momentum and angular velocity

i think we may have had a similar discussion about this with predators power pulse technology. i also think that it doesnt really matter what type of footwear you have on your feet because most soccer players legs are powerful enough to not even notice the type of footwear they are currently wearing. a few grams here and a few grams there will change the speed slightly but we are not talking about a major impact on your shot power.

I contacted a rep at Eurosport awhile back and he informed me their shoe weights are based on a men's 9.
That said, i find it hard to rely on vendor's figures for weight. Eastbay also claims to use a mens 9 as their basline for measurement, and one can look up the exact same pair at both places and the weights vary by as much as 3 ounces. Three ounces is alot when you're talking shoes.
Something is amiss.

in soccer a couple ounces or grams is nothing considering a player weighs between 100-200 lbs and then is wearing a uniform that is soaked in sweat and water adding acouple more pounds.
light shoes arre nice and all but really they don't make that much of a difference. Henry and Ronaldo were just as fast when they were wearing Tiempo Permiers as they are now wearing Vapors (Well Ronaldo may have lost a step of speed due to the knee injuries but he is still the second fastest player in the world with the ball at his feet next to Titi)

haha, i know, and agree.
There are so many factors that go into performance, not even including the the player's skill. i just thought it was funny how perception (being convinced of the advatage of lighter boots) is so shifted by influence of marketing (and the physics behind it), and thought the truth (physics) pointed that out really well.

the influence that marketing has on us is very real. Just looking back at myself over the years and the decisions i have made prove the point in my eyes. i just remember when the first predators came out i just really wanted to have them because the stars were wearing them and i wanted to curl the ball around the wall with ease. same happened with the vapors. I used to be relatively slow, mainly because i have not hit my growth spurt until my sophomore year of highschool. I got a pair of vapors just so i could "run faster". I thought they were comfy for my foot seeing how i have narrow feet. i thought they actually made me faster but its was just mother nature making me grow bigger and stronger. around that same time i also tried the predator precisions, which i think were the heaviest of the predators ( i am not sure of this but they were sturdy as hell) and i thought i would be slower and could not pull of moves as fast. Well, to my surprise i was wrong. I still like vapors and predators, i just dont like the price tag that is attached to the boot so that addias and nike can pay for the stars that wear them. Now my footwear consists of diadora brasil(totti pro is coming soon), copa mundial, world cups, puma cellerator, and mania turfs. Its all about comfort now. some people do believe that certain cleats make them have a harder shot and make them run faster. I think a lot has to do with the aurora surrounding each cleat. It has very much become a mental thing these days. If you want a harder shot and run faster, try a high protein diet with weight lifting and your increase in speed and strenght will be far better than what nike and adidas promises. I have been there but i have grown wiser over the years. This is my opinion and this comes from personal experience over the years of playing many levels and many leagues of soccer. there are many guys on these boards who can back this up, i am certain.

Light boots will do little for your game, true. But they are worth seeking out, all else about the boots being equal. There was a detailed discussion on this topic months ago, unfortunatley I think the archives have been lost.
About sweat and moisture weighing you down. I dont think that makes sense. You have not added weight by sweating --- you have lost it, and will continue losing it as the water leaves your body and evaporates.

F= ma, if the shoes are heavier than the acceleration will obviously be slower, so it donest neccesarily mean that the lighter shoes will be less impact, because even tho the mass is smaller, the acceleration will be faster..
