Pleasant dreams at Hall (http://www.thedailystar.com/sports/2005/08/30/spsochal.html) (Oneonta Daily Star).

From that:

"Former standout Alexi Lalas, the president and general manager of Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes, attended the ceremony for the second straight year."

I stopped reading right there.

Soccer has been showing up in some tax articles. Lee Shepard is a reporter for Tax Analysts. In Tax Notes Today about two weeks ago she began an article on foreign hedge funds US lending activities with a long discussion of the Glazer -- Man U takeover.

Today, she began an article on the US-Italy tax treaty (which has been stalled in the Senate for reasons unknown) with a discussion of the upcoming Serie A season.

She also noted that the Slovenian treaty, similar to the Italian treaty and negotiated at the same time, was passed (also claiming that Slovenia may be a problem for Italy in qualifying).

It is a subsciption site, so I cannot link to it.

From the hometown paper of the HOF, which besides two colleges nobody outside of NY knows or cares about is the only thing in "Stoneoneta", that is BEYOND weak.

U.S.-Mexico already considered a classico -- at least by 1 country-Carson Daily Breeze (http://www.dailybreeze.com/sports/articles/1704916.html)

If any of you use the Yahoo feature, my.yahoo.com - you can now add the daily news to your My Yahoo page - just click on add content then search for soccer and find the BigSoccer Boards - Soccer Journal link - its currently 32 - just click addNice - and yet more BS mention from the Carson Daily Breeze:

It's no coincidence the message boards at bigsoccer.com carry an admonishment to fans that inappropriate posts [about the US-Mexico game] will not be tolerated.

Also interesting from the Daily Breeze - by far the coolest promo in a while:

Well, that and the free Mexican wrestling masks folks who buy four tickets to the [Chivas USA-Crew] game for $80 will get.

Re: Carson Daily Breeze/BS

Is it just me or does anybody swear that more than just a couple of BS "celeb posters/journalists" (Beau Dure, Kenn.com [hey, the guy hardly has been posting!! I can't recall his last name...], etc.) are using BS as a one-stop "shopping for an article place"?

(Not that that article did/does that, btw...)

Whoops, just in case my above post is somewhat unclear, in no way am I saying that BS posters who happen to be journalists grovel for ideas here.

I thoroughly enjoy Beau Dure et al as BS posters, as they contribute valuable expertise/insights for us all.

What I'm saying is that more and more journalists hunt anonymously for ideas here. :)
