View Full Version : I need tickets...or a good bar in Columbus showing the game

So here I am, living in Ohio within easy driving distance of Columbus, but ticketless with less than a week to go before the match. I'm really wanting to go, but with some qualifications. I have no intention of paying hundreds of dollars for a ticket - if nothing else, I just don't have that kind of jack. I'd definitely pay a bit (I do mean a *little* bit - I'm a poor grad student) over face value if there was some good soul looking to get rid of a ticket or two to a US supporter (I have a friend - not American but European - who'd go as well given the chance). In fact, I do know some people who are in that category and are altruistic enough to pass their spares on at face value, but they already have personal standby lists going, and I'm third or fourth in line.

So I'm offically on the market for someone's charity. Not that I can blame anyone if they try to parlay their spares into airfare to Germany. Just remember, karma feels so damn good.

Failing that - and I'm fully expecting that plea to fail - I'm probably going to drive up to Columbus on matchday, chance my poor little car getting bogged in the post-Katrina state fairgrounds mud, and party it up with those of you I know, before hightailing it out and over to a Columbus bar to watch the actual match (surely I can't be the only one with this plan). Question is, what bar? Anyone else in Columbus making plans to watch the match from the comfort of a bar stool, rather than a hard aluminum bench?

Shaughnessy's? I think that's where some partying will be going on.

I'm sure you'll find some US supporter who is willing to sell you a ticket at face value. Show up at the tailgate, ask around, and I guarantee you'll find someone who needs to get rid of a ticket and wants to make sure they don't sell it to a Mexico fan.

If only that English guy who was on the Screaming Eagles bus last time was going to be going. He knows how to get someone in without a ticket.

Michael, show up at the tailgate early -- around 3:30 when it starts...

There is bound to be someone with a SA ticket for sale, at face value, for ya.

The World Cup Express group has one extra ticket and maybe two (I'll know for sure Wed. Night). Contact me then at 301 831 6125. Tix will be available at cost in SA section only to fanatical fans ($40 each). Don't even try to buy if you're Mexican and/or you're a weasilly American looking to turn a few bucks. Like I said, one, maybe two - - I'll know Wed. Night. At cost for rabid US fans only.

Everyone in the Screaming Eagles knows how to sneak into a stadium...they can't possibly pay for that rubbish in DC! (j/k---Go FIRE!)

Seriously Nancy---Have an awesome time. I'm trapped at work on the day but plan to watch Telemundo AND the ESPN coverage with muy cervezas. I just hope I don't miss Mass on Sunday.

Each of you at the match represent a hundred fans like me who would love to be there so sing your hearts out and use your latent psychic powers to guide every US shot into the Mexican goal.

We can pound those guys. Let's do it.
