Nice goal. I miss him at Palmeiras.

Thanks for that. Alex is a special talent.

What I most liked about the goal is that, being almost exclusively a left-footed player, his take-off and execution of the scissor was decidely "right-minded". Check out the replay...

I'll disagree with you celito....thumbs up on the baby-fro' :D

They attack without any plan. Just like the current Ajax. :(

Who attacks with no plan? How can one tell from this clip? And, how does it impact the beauty of the goal?

I actually thought the attack was quite pleasing to the eye. Not every attack has to be compact and almost planned, football is more about instinct than formula.

A team that can go forward and spread things out without a plan is alot harder to stop than a team who has predictable way of doing things. Arsenal has the world's most well formed thought out attacks, yet for some reason in big games against quality opposition they find it much harder to score. The end result is what justifies the tactics.

I also noticed that after Fenerbache took posession of the ball the other squad already had 8 men behind the ball with two very organized lines of four. Fenerbache did a good job of exploring the width of the field (some 7-8 consecutive passes) in order to get a cross on goal.....and Alex just did a splendid individual move to salvage a broken-up play.

Exactly... very very few teams can break down an organized defence without a penetrative winger... passing and movement generally work more on teams who are closing down very quickly, which was not the case here, atleast not initially.

If he is not Braizlian, he will be the best player on his NT.

I think Ronaldiho, Ronaldo, Adriano, Juninho or even Robinho are better than Alex. He is not the best player on the Brazilan NT.

Alex is a great talent. But is just not made for the very top level because he is very inconsistent and can't carry a team week in week out. I remember him at Palmeiras and some national team games. Very often he tended to disappear from the game, specially when a strong defender was put on him. That was always the biggest complaint about him.

Roffadam, what was this good for?

Negative rep: jij leeft in een andere wereld he...wat heeft Ajax met die goal te maken. NERD

And what I was trying to say was that the attack went really slow. I could see the players think almost a second every time they got the ball: "what am I supposed to do now?" Not every attack should have the same pattern, I agree that makes it easier to defend. But the attack went way too slow, the defenders had a lot of time to react every time. The goal was a beauty though.
