It seems to me that what BM really needs to put them over the top in the Cm is another makaay quality striker.
Someone like luque who was available would have been a good buy for BM
I just dont have alot a fait in pizza, SC and Gurerro...

The hot rumor is Podolski in summer 2006.

I have been saying this for two years. And could write a couple paragraphs on it, but it is a new season and I am more inclined to get everybody a chance to partner w/ Roy.

I vote for John Carew. He's not a clinical finisher, but he can 1) hold the line all day long, 2) out-muscle most any defender, 3) be a big point-man in the middle, and 4) actually dribble with the ball unlike that oaf Koller. In my mind, a perfect compliment to King Roy. And, he scores goals.

actually i think the perfect partner to roy would be one playing off him, one who moves around a lot and tracks back frequently to help link up with midfield... one who can create space for makaay by drawing defenders to him... one who is technically very adept...
basically, podolski! :o

If you look at Bayern's peers most don't have as big a question mark at the second forward position, if at all, as our beloved FCB has. Maybe Guerrero or Pizarro can ratchet it up several notches and serve as that second striker, but who would like to guarantee that will happen? We could still win the Champions League with the team we have, but for now I think this shortfall puts us out of the top contenders category.
I suppose Owen wanted to return to England, but I wonder if Bayern's CL status could've lured him away from Newcastle. I think he would've made a great partner with Makaay and given his age could've been sold on next year if the Podolski deal comes down. I guess we don't have the money for him.

Luque? Piza is better than him and so will JPG be in a year or so...no comment on Santa Cruz....
We don't need Owen, he was made to play in England, most notabley Liverpool...thats where he should go and most likely will end up, hopefully not at the expense of Cisse but thats for Liverpool fans to worry about....
What scorpio said bascially sums it up, I am certain that we'll get Podolski after this season, he is the perfect player for Makaay and will fit in nicely to replace him. He can play off a striker or play by his lonesome up top. We already have one hand on his shoulder and unless another club outbids us for him and screws over this management, which I doubt will happen, he will wear FCB colors next season.

Cisse will be great!

I dunno where you got the idea that Cisse is good but he is one of the worst excuses for a world class striker that i have ever seen. His 2 goals against CSKA were both extremely lucky, sure his cross for the third goal was good but hes definately a better right winger than striker,he has pace and cross the ball decently, everythin u want from a winger, but he couldnt finish his dinner. I think Pizza is a great striker,i'm sad to see you guys dont appreciate him fully

Don't forget, there's only one ball. If Bayern were to bring in another guy, they would also have to make sure the guy doesn't have a world class ego.
With that in mind, even though he's too expensive, I'd suggest Michael Owen.

Personally I think Pizza can be a world class striker if becomes more consistant.

Concerning Podolski, I just read the following in the latest kicker:
in the beginning it's just about Lukas and his recent lack of form and the new system Köln plays, but the last paragraph is quiet interesting.
It says that Podoski is in doubt about him going to Bayern. He fears that the step might be to big and that there might be a chance for clubs like Werder, Schalke, HSV or Stuttgart to grab him.

great news... id love for other clubs to sign him so that they have a better chance of challenging bayern in the near future... i am still happy with the current crop of strikers at bayern, and provided they dont horribly flop this year, will still be happy with this crop for next season - basically until makaay starts waning...
podolski needs to be the top striker at his club - he might not be well off playing second fiddle to makaay!

I think you guys might be right. Two seasons at a Stuttgart, Bremen, Leverkusen or even staying at Koln and then eventually replacing Makaay might be the best thing for Podolski.
Ballack did it the same way. I don't think Ballack could have withstood being at Bayern along with Stefan Effenberg.

owen  no way bayern will put money on a spent player like him. His wage is very high and not as effective as before. Anyway, i don't think bayern need another striker at the moment, pizza and santacruz's played well enough to support him.
So let's wait till 2006, bayern might get rid off either of them to get podolski :p

Gee. I could have SWORN I said "Even though he's too expensive" before I mentioned Michael Owen........

I was under the impression this is a hypothetical conversation. I know Bayern aren't going to go out and buy Cisse, much less Owen.

Looks like Podolski may make a preliminary stop before he heads for Bayern. Either that, or he'll play out his contract at 1. FC Koln.
Both Pizarro and Podolski's contracts end in 2007. Who's to say they don't just switch places? Hmmm........ ;)

Pizarro to Koln? yea right. i dont see pizarro staying with bayern after his contract ends. he'll probably go to italy or spain, cause after podolski comes, there wont be any room for him.

The thing is, Ballack couldn't have played off Effenberg, while Poldi can play off Makaay.
Plus, if Podolski comes next season its not like he'll be playing along with Makaay for long, Makaay is nearing the end of his career, he's not getting any younger. Also, remember....Lukas is still young, he could still learn a couple of things by playing alongside Roy.
As for Cisse....he is anything but a poor excuse for a striker....this guy is amazing when he is fit and gets playing time. He was out most of last season and when he wasn't, at the beginning and end of the season, he scored. You can't blame or criticise him for those goals against CSK...could have happened to any striker....look at it this way, he came in and made an immediate impact, he brought a new dimension to the game for Liverpool. Sure, his pace qualifies him to be a winger, but he uses that speed and flare best in the center of the pitch and near the box outrunning defenders. You should see some of his finishes. He is lethal in the box as well. He is performing way better than Morientes, despite getting way less playing time. By the end of the season, providing Cisse stays, he will have a higher goal tally than Morientes, I guarantee you that.

I wouldn't put all our eggs in the Podolski basket. If he continues to play the way I saw him play against Stuttgart and has a good World Cup, it is not unlikely Bayern would get into a bidding war with Chelsea, ManU, AC Milan, Real Madrid, etc., which Bayern has shown little sign of winning.
