I don't have time to translate, but this is not too flattering. Can't say they are wrong, but they didn't pull any punches. "Not just anyone can play in the Bernabeu"

Yup. Painful read. Especially the part about "might as well be playing kids" (paraphrase from reading it last night).

and this from AS made me laugh out loud:

El encuentro contra la selección de la Liga de Estados Unidos tuvo muchísimo de exhibición y poco o nada de competición, y a ello colaboraron dócilmente los americanos, que resultaron los invitados perfectos porque son educadísimos y no rompieron nada, ya nos hicieron sospechar cuando los vimos en el Museo del Prado.

The match against the US league all-stars was mostly exhibition with little to no competition, and in this the Americans docilly colaborated, making them the perfect invites because they are extremely well-mannered and didn't break anything, as we might have expected when we saw them in the Prado Museum.

These papers just can't get enough of the idea of soccer players actually going to the Prado instead of one of Madrid's many fine night spots.

No Ajax USA, which has less of a relationship with Ajax of Amsterdam than Chivas USA has with Chivas de Guadalajara. They won't be lead investors, but supporting ones. It's nice to have their interest, but it really doesn't solve any of the pressing problems (i.e. committed local ownership and a stadium plan).

Apparently there's an Ives Galarcep article here,

Well atleast the team were league ambassadors who behaved decently even if they didnt really want to play. Its really not that often that Euros refer to us as well mannered. Though spending time in Europe and seeing the way my fellow Americans acted I cant say I blame them too much for their opinion that we are immature and licentious.

I am so sick of soccer players and coaches talking about getting a "result." Of course, you are going to get a result, but what kind of a result? A good or a bad result? You can not simply get a result. It has to be good or bad. Sorry, this is one of many sayings in the soccer world that ticks me off - usally because it is an American trying to sound worldly and talk like they are on BBC. Like Jeremy St. Louis on FSC calling a matchup of two teams a "tie" - as in Cup tie.

I would like to see the players try to avoid a result. Now that would be something.

So? That's what it's called. If you don't like it, don't use it, but it's still correct.

Can't happen.
The resulting result of an attempt to avoid a result will always result in a result.

I just wanted to say that I was totally let down by the MLS select team. Even I was freaken embarrased yesterday. As much a Donovan fan that I am, he simply didn't do squat. he looked afraid and didn't really go at anybody. No wonder he hasn't been able to cut it in Germany. Justin Mapp should have just stayed home. What the hell was Douglas Sequira (sp?) thinking? Was he thinking?

I was really impressed with Cunningham and Guevara. It'll be a shame if the league loses this player.

Thanks for showing up MLS and making us look good.

So if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice?

Actually its Ajax America that is interested in MLS. Ajax USA is a US-based Ajax supporters club.
But overall, you are correct. Although I would think Ajax America's developmental interest will help raise the Quakes' or Wiz's profile with local investor groups.
