How long do you guys practice? An hr? 2 hrs? What/how do you do some complicated freestyle tricks?

I don't like freestyling, I believe that players should learn how to play the game first.

true but if you know how to play and if you are fast.....you dont even have to be fast just have fast legs...than u could freestyle

I usually spend about 30 minutes a day juggling. I am not good at all those fancy freestyle tricks, that's not my goal. I think they're totally useless in a real high-speed game. What I really focus on is a solid juggling and making sure that I use every surface of my feet: instep, laces, inside, outside and the soleplate. You never know from what angle the ball will come to you in a game and you better work on this.

BTW that's my 600th post yippee

I usually spend about 1-2 hours a night in the summer juggling and practicing freestyle tricks. I love it. Its a great way to chill out :D

If somebody has never juggled a ball before, how would you teach them to do it?

There's no way you can 'teach' someone to juggle. It's a matter of practice.

Well, I'd agree that there's no way to learn it except by practice, but what are the important things to keep in mind or to do or not do when you juggle? I mean, the only way for you to become fluent in Russian is to practice, but it doesn't help you much if that's all I tell you to do. :)

besides the fact of freestyle tricks juggiling is basically the best way to practice by yourself. It really gets your head into it because you know how the ball bounces so when your on the field you know how it moves.

another good way to practice is if you live by the beach, dribble in the sand. It takes different bounces that it normaly wouldnt take and you can get more agile and quick because of the different bounces and wierd bounces it takes.

Well, nobody actually taught me how to juggle. Though if you want some little advice to start with, I'd recommend you to first get good at lifting the ball from the ground. Then when you're ok on that, work on using only your feet and only after you're totally confident on that, start using other parts of your body like knees, forehead etc. I mean, how often do you actually use your head, chest and knees to recieve the ball in match? Of course you do, but still your feet do most of the work. Also don't try to prevent the ball from spinning in the air while you're juggling. It makes it even harder so you'll get better faster.

Cheers.

juggling is just something that you start to do one day...

But yeah, i juggle about an hour every couple days, depends on weather and how i feel etc, but i prolly get 4 or 5 hours a week on my own, plus practice and freeplay...

I love freestyle tricks. If anything, I'm doing that even more than I am playing football. I watch Nike adverts and Ronaldinho etc. non - stop, and practice untill I can do most of their tricks. Am I the only one? :)

i have awesome videos of ronaldinho, ronaldo, maradona, and ibrahimovic juggling. It inspires me to go outside and try to imitate them. I recently learned how to do the lace flick. I'm good at juggling with my shoulders. I know this doesn't help in a real game but I had to practice it after seeing maradona do it. I'm trying to learn to juggle with just my right heel. I need more practice with this.

tricks and freestyling are not useless. you gain mastery of the ball in new ways for each trick you get down. i freestyle all the time when i'm not playing against other people.

tricks and freestyle are good but all those things help you benifit during a game because you are getting in more touches
plus they look cool

I think that freestyle is different generation of soccer. Its like two sports almost. SOme ppl might like freestyling better, and they want to go "pro" in that..and others like to play simple soccer.

I doont spend a lot of time on juggling.freestyling since my HS season started. I dont have much time, and also i m very tired. But off season i juggle a lot nd do lots of tricks, because after a while simple juggling gets boring.

Best way to start juggling is to get the ball in your hands, drop it, kick it back up and catch it. Repeat until you are comfortably kicking the ball straight up back to your hands, do this with both feet.

Once you got that down, then you eventually get the hang of it.

Come to one of my camps and I'll teach you "progression juggling", a program designed to teach juggling to beginners and even challenge so called, "experts" to prove that they really have control of every touch.
