I am a Canadian fan without a TV and I would like to try to download recorded copies of a weekly EPL television highlight show from the internet. Can anyone tell me the names of some of the better programs so that I can try to locate their torrent files when the next season starts? Thanks.

You tried signing up to maxxed ( www.fbtz.com ) or soccerpulse ( www.soccerpulse.com ) ?

They often have people on there that cap games/highlights as well as posting up torrent links from other places etc.

Edit: Pretty sure they had the official highlight show as well as things like "Match Of The Day" last season.

anyone have suggestions for a Mac user?

You're going to be struggling, sorry.

As far as I can see, peercast (http://www.peercast.org/) is the only software of this type that supports the mac at present.

Unforunately it doesn't seem to carry many tv stations right now (it's mostly radio) and I'm not sure if any of them regularly carry football. They did carry some games during the world cup but as for regular club football I'm not so sure. For what it's worth, here's (http://66.249.93.104/translate_c?hl=en&u=http://yp.peercast.org/) the peercast yellow pages, that tells you what's on (translated into english).

I believe Feidian (also known as boiling point) did have a mac version in the past, as did sopcast. Unfortunately it appears that they no longer support that particular OS.

The only other thing I could suggest, and I know it goes against the principles of some mac users would be to get a copy of virtual pc, (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/default.mspx) bootcamp (http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/) or parallels (http://www.parallels.com/) together with a copy of windows but for that kind of money it's hardly worth it and you'd probably be better off subscribing to some sort of satellite/cable tv package.

Sopcast (http://www.sopcast.org/) do have a linux version as do peercast and I don't know a great deal about operating systems but I do believe you can find linux for free. Once again though, you're going to need one of bootcamp, virtual pc or parallels to run it and that's going to cost you. Of course you could, if that way inclined, look for cracked versions of one of those three if they're out there but I wouldn't reccomend it. :)

Other than that it's got me stumped.

livefooty.doctor-serv.com

Well this was the site that I used to watch the EPL over the internet and it seems to have been deleted or something. Does anyone have any idea why or if it is just currently down?

I'm not familiar with it but I got the impression last spring the premeirship's front office was on the war path cracking down on illegal sites.

Anyone else tried PPmate yet? http://translate.google.com/translate?sourceid=navclient-menuext&hl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eppmate%2Ecom%2F

It seems very quick to start up with less buffering time etc and the best/easiest interface that I've come across with these programs so far. Not a great channel line-up as far as football goes but it does have caifu sports/siptv that often shows games.

I only stumbled across it a couple of days ago but it seems to have a built-in stream recorder too, quite impressed with it.

Sopcast has to be the best one out there. It and TVants are the only ones I have found in English, and TVants is unreliable.

I tried Sopcast for the first time today and got to watch the Villa vs. Newcastle game for 10 minutes before having to leave the house. It never buffered.

The only problem is I have read that Sopcast is fairly new and some of the TV channels disappear. None of them are in English but just turn the sound off on your PC and you get to watch an EPL match for free. It's better than switching to Directv and adding on Setanta. Between FSC, TVants, and Sopcast I won't miss anything this year.

If you're lucky try and get TVAnts to work. They are the only ones who I have found to have English ESPN and English footie channels.
