You did not specify which series or cup you were referring to.

As for the 2002 Champions Cup: "Wizards Come Back to Tie Morelia 1-1 Despite Playing with Nine Men"

Looks like 2 red cards and a penalty kick for Morelia, and they still didn't win?

"Wizards Fall to Monarcas Morelia 6-1 in Mexico"

Another PK and a red card, plus a good old fashioned beating.

While searching for these news items, I learned the Kansas City Wizards lost to a PDL team, the Chicago Sockers, in Open Cup play in 2000, the year they won the MLS Cup...

As for the Wizards' run in the 2001 MercaNorte Cup

They lost to that year's Mexican League Champs, Santos Laguna, 1-0.

http://kcwizards.com/news/interiornewspage.asp?story_id=FTVIR48ZFFHH7QWIRPV2QIDMHE

Tied Barcelona S.C.

Beat Barcelona S.C. in Ecuador.

http://kcwizards.com/news/interiornewspage.asp?story_id=JU57CB5HTFHN5C33TZGN8UJ6JE

Fall again to Santos Laguna.

http://kcwizards.com/news/interiornewspage.asp?story_id=AFD5X4TY7JANMH2DI7MGE8I352

Lost to Sporting Cristal.

That's all I'm gonna look for, for now. The later legs were played during the MLS playoffs, as well.

Next time you should do your research first before you attempt to clarify a series.

It was in the MercoNorte against Santos that they Refs did not show up.

In all fairness, by the match report, I find it difficult to contend that this series makes a good arguement for MFL's superiority to MLS. This series is a poor example to use.

According to the first leg (the latter article) match report, two key Wizards, Vermes and Gutierrez, stayed home due to injury. Two players were subbed early due to injury. The Costa Rican ref's calls are said to be questionable. But, the best part is that KC's newly acquired Russian striker Igor Simutenkov was not allowed to enter the country because Morelia didn't file the Visa paperwork.

And yet, I have admitted to MFL superiority, so I'm not sure what this arguement is revolving around.

I say MLS can compete.

Your the one who attempted to discredit El CHarro's post about the series by saying the refs didn't show. I just pointed out that you had the wrong series.

Thank you.

While browsing, I found this 2001 match report of a game from a 4-team tourney DC United played in El Salvador.

DC United v Luis Angel Firpo
http://mlsnet.com/content/00/dc1106firpo.html

Basically, United gets a guy sent off, their coached kicked out, and then has a questionable penalty kick called against them in the 88th minute that broke the 1-1 tie.

Interesting, to me, anyway. Would it be worthwhile if I dug up every match report from which an MLS club gets screwed outside of the States?

Though you lack any affinity for MLS, the discrimination appears very blatant.

Also, how do you spin the United States' success against Mexico recently? Both nations rely heavily on their domestic leagues.

El Pibe is retired.

Yeah, I edited my post when I realized my mistake.

I had heard he was planning on playing for his hometown team back in Colombia. Didn't they erect some statue memorial thingy, as well? The Rapids, more or less, put him into retirement.

The statue is up and unlike MLS a 40 year old can't play in the Colombian league.

Last I heard some team in Chile was intreasted in him.

Somebody's still bitter about '94.

Nope, the US hasn't won a game against Colombia since then. Colombia owns the US.

If you're referring to drug-trafficing, perhaps.

Seems to me Colombia was missing from the Korea/Japan roster, and missed the second round in '98 as well as '94. Granted, the US sucked in '98, but we sent you home in '94, and without any domestic, respectable soccer league, as contrasted by the star talent that populated Colombia's squad that year.

A 1-0 victory back in 2001 for Colombia, a 2-2 tie and PKs in the 2000 Gold Cup for Colombia, 0-0 tie in 1995 as well as a 4-1 win to Colombia, plus the 2-1 States' win in World Cup 1994.

Perhaps, both nations advance from the group stages at the Confederations Cup and face each other. Or, better yet, they may likely meet in this year's Gold Cup.

Whoa.

Colombia lost to Canada in the 2000 Gold Cup final?

Ouch.

Good question. He was in the A-League last year, but I think he's returned to El Salvador.

Also, Twellman was unable to be considered a rookie, despite it being his first year in MLS. Yet, Ruiz did win top goalscorer. Twellman was tops in points.
