I'd say AC Milan with Stam, Nesta, Maldini, Kahladze, and Cafu. A true core of defenders.

Yeah its a great defence..but if they are truely great, how do you explain the CL final?

yea i agree ac milan has been the best in past seasons. but this seasons i think inters will be the best. They have lots of pace and youth mixed with stregth and leadership in the back. If they can stay orginized in defence (which has been a problem in past seasons) then there defense will be the strongest.

Good point my friend. I guess a good defence always has its weaknesses.

Juventus

Zebina Cannavaro Thuram Zambrotta

You cant really argue with that, there offence is pretty bad nowadays but there defence got them to the quarter finals of the CL and the Italian Championship. I think they got through the group stages letting in only one goal.

Yes and I think Juventus conceded one less goal than Milan in Seria A....on paper Milan takes it but in football, that doesn't always turn out like that.

Another thing you have to consider is age. Although I hate to admit it, Milan's backline isn't getting any younger...

If it weren't for Zebina it would be Juve since Cannavaro, Thuram, and Zambrotta are as good as Stam, Nesta and Maldini but Cafu is jus so much better than Zebina.

Yea but I'm glad Montero isn't starting for Juve any more. He was becoming a liability IMO because he got carded way too much.

its how good the players are as a unit, not individually... both Juve and Milan have superb defences, but Juve gave up less goals in Serie A despite playing with 2 forwards most of the time compared to Milan who played with 1 forward for most of the season who still allowed 1 more goal... but what did it for me was Juve's superb record in the CL going so many games without conceeding goals to quality opposition. They had a breakdown in the final but overall, Juve's defense is better, if only slightly so.
