No it was definitley Juninho's goal. They replayed it a couple times, carew missed it...barely...the spin of the ball didn't change.

Yeah I guess it's always safe to assume that results are going to be openly discussed in a given club's thread, but without the [R] there might be someone out there who will complain about having a result compromised because they looked through the thread...

Ok, it ends at 0-2 for Lyon.
This was almost effortless for OL, they had it
won in the first half and just waited for Auxerre
in the second...and Auxerre couldn't do it.
The first half was the best Lyon has played
this season, so far.
So, OL is on top of the championship after 5
games and who's going to stop them?
Looks bad for the competition.

it was a good game for lyon and a very important win since not only did it put lyon on top of the table but it was also the last game before the WCQ break and it doesnt matter what team you are or where you are in the table its good to win going in to any kind of extra break.

Anyone who doesnt think that Juninho is one of the 10 best midfielders in Europe needs to see this match. I'm tired of him not getting his due. He shouldnt have to go to England,Spain, or Italy to earn his respect. He's earned it already and has proven himself to be among the best in Europe at his position.

 *shocked* I didn't hear ANY rumour about that one !it often goes that way. elber and cris both were signed before anyone heard of it. there were vague rumors about cris on OLweb boards, because lacombe had taken an extended trip to brasil, and he had said he and marcello were onto "a mozer type, a killer". elber was signed when the hunt for sonny's replacement looked dead. if you look at OL's recruitments, they generally come in the first days of the mercato, players they were already onto before the end of the season, and in the last days, players they've had under wraps and are afraid of getting outbid on if they let the cat out of the bag too early. i wouldn't be surprised if some teams put spies on lacombe, like in wall street.

Didnt Bordeaux a few years ago bring in a Brazlian who scored an absurd amount of goals down there and when he got to France he completely flopped. Deivid I think his name was.bordeaux doesn't have marcello. that guy is almost never wrong.

Agreed. He's a genius. Full stop.

And I think Fred is an exciting signing. How could Lyon not want another brazilian on the team, and one that's been the top scorer in the league last year?

Screw Owen, screw all the EPL players that dont want to play in France.

OL is gonna take the CL by storm this year!

OL is gonna take the CL by storm this year!it all depends upon houllier. if he can make all those horses hit on all cylinders the way PLG did for 3 years, they're gonna be one helluva machine.

I read in the news that Carew was credited his 4th goal in 5 matches for Lyon yesterday as he admitted he was the last person on the ball before it went in. Now is it only the newspapers who credit him the goal or is it official?

i don't know about the aftenposten, but papers here give juni the goal. the OL site says juninho, l'équipe says carew... most importantly the official site for L1 says juninho.

http://www.footpro.fr/ligue1/bilan_resultats_ligue1.asp?saison=2005/2006&NUM_ORDRE=1&CODE_JR_TR=J05

carew says he touched the ball? not enough to change its spin or direction in any case. but i don't think either he or juni really care who gets the credit, there will be plenty of goals for both of them, and the win is the important thing.

Lyon is really proving their worth in the transfer market.....
6 Million Euro's for Carew???? Come on?
Tiago will be a steal at 10, and Fred for 12 (aka the next Ronaldinho) is another great buy. I still haven't given up on Pedretti at 7 yet either. That all adds up to 35 million. Has any other team in Europe spent that much (excluding Chelsea, which aren't for real anyways)???
