The weirdest part are the vertical stripes in the back though - it looks odd if the players where their shirts untucked. But I guess it'll grow on me [...] The sponsors aren't on yet, but I guess we'll see it during the kit presentation in August.the present white kits have those stripes already, though perhaps not as long; word is they'll have no sponsor, or a charity, until january when online betting firms can get into the act. the fakeups of this shirt you see on the web carry bwin.
what i don't like about the away shirt is the crest.
I like the home kits. Maybe it's because of the lack of sponsor but the horizontal has a pretty old school look to it. Nice change, I'll probably pick one up.http://www.sportsaga.com/images/catalogue/football/Toffs/maillot_retro_OL_Lyon.jpg
i wear this to play on wintry days, my son bought it for me at toff's, with djorkaeff père's #3 on the back.

I missed this, as I was in Canada at the time, but Gregory Coupet has signed with PSG earlier this month. No comments from anyone? Guess he didn't like Spain as much as he thought he would, but PSG?? With the addition of Erding, it looks like PSG will be pushing even harder this coming season to crack the top 3.

the stripes are positioned in a way that it's clear space is being left for the sponsor above. in the same way, during preseason matches played w/o names on jerseys the numbers look strangely low set...
the horizontal stripes are my favorite, and i,ve been looking forward to them coming back...
besides their being a part of OL tradition, my very first "jersey" had them, the club had everyone bring a plain white t-shirt and a couple of weeks later we got it back with light blue and yellow ribbons across the chest, and a handsewn black number on the back; a labor of love by the mamacitas! i'd give anything to have that shirt still...

watching a little bit of the friendly with Lens: http://www.justin.tv/keeperlive1/popout
kits actually look fairly sharp, the players not so much.

Bastos just missed a sitter...

Despite my earlier post Bastos had probably the best half of any of the Lyonnais. But the team is being run ragged right now.

Bastos missed a couple of sitters in the first half. but was still dangerous.
My bigger concern is that Cris was consistently beaten by every Lens player that went at him.

2 quick goals from Kallstrom, one a great freekick the other a long range shot that caught the keeper off guard.
c'est fini, 2-2.

It's always interesting when the one whom Puel doesn't really want does better than "prize" players.
Kallstrom is a really useful player, I hope he doesn't leave.

i don't know where the idea puel doesn't want kongo kim comes from... he made him starting LB over a healthy grosso end of last season and said he wasn't for sale...
in any case, these matches are what they are: practice. if it was anything like OM-ajaccio (all the OM friendlies are on C+ sport) it wasn't exactly the match of the century!
the peace cup will give us a better idea where we stand.

I read that Aulas wants to invest in LOU rugby and change the name of the team to OL rugby.

Lyon's preseason has been pretty crappy so far. They won 1-0 against Nice, then drew 1-1 with Lens and Besiktas, and then lost 2-0 to Porto. Tomorrow they will play against Sevilla, and I doubt that will go any better.
I'm not too concerned at the moment. We have a lot of new players, so it'll obviously take a little time for them to play together cohesively (I hope they figure it out before CL qualifiers though!). As for yesterday's loss to Porto - well, that's what happens when Puel plays a bunch of second string players. I mean, Vercoutre? Seriously? Had he started with Ederson, Lloris, and Lopez (if he had been fit to play), the game would have had far differently.
Anyway, it was a friendly and doesn't mean anything, so the loss isn't anything to cry over. I just hope OL find the right formula soon.

In the final playoff to get into the big eared cup. I believe we could get any of those teams. So we could be playing Arsenal in the playoff or Copenhagen. Tough not to finish at least second. Let's hope the draw is favorable. The draw will be august 07 in Nyon of course.

actually Lyon looked good against a strong sevilla squad up until that ridiculous red card. i was impressed with cris, grosso, bastos, and kallstom again. lisandro still needs more time to find his bearings but i'm confident he will fit in well.
that sevilla goal at the end was really flukey and it would have been an impressive defensive display to draw 0-0 with only 9 men on the field.

man. another draw snatched from the jaws of victory. looks a bit like last season all over again.
at least Gomis and Lisandro managed to score against Deportivo.
Puel needs to step up his game.

Have you seen the game ?
Very impressive 2nd half, Gomis and Lisandro were very interesting…
The game had to stop because some "supporters" of Marseilles were insulting Lyon, Govou and his family for minutes before Sidney, angered on the bench, had to go into the public area to have a word with those intellectuals…
