Baros would have been great and realisitc but we know how that turned out. on 'pool boards i've read congratulations on our not getting baros. one salty remark: if you nailed his left foot tothe turf he would run around in circles all match and not even realize it.
Carew and Wiltord are not the fastest guys out there they need a guy with blazing speed.not fast? you can't expect carew to be the artful dodger, but in a straight line he's a TGV. Wiltord? if he's not fast my eyes are playing hella tricks on me. and to be in his kind of shape at 31, you gotta be dedicated.
Personally I would have kept Nilmar and gotten rid of Frau instead.i would have liked to keep them both, but a) lacombe probably has something in mind that needs an extracommunity spot and b) nilmar needs lots of play, because he really does figure in the future of the club, and brazilian internationals don't take to CFA spots.
Carew, Wiltord, and Frau is fine if you wanna win Ligue 1 but we know they wanna go further than that. Tiago now but I'm still not sold on Pedretti. He can not be a starter all the time if this team is to win in Europe.they came screaming close to winning last year, have already improved the squad as much or more than anyone else and still have about a 30M€ war chest for next week and this winter.

I'm sympathetic to French football, but Aulas has not one single shred of a right to complain about this. After the crap he pulled with Essien, he needs to put up or shut up. We can loan him to PSG with the snap of a finger.

 *shocked*
I didn't hear ANY rumour about that one ! I'm so surprised, 12 million € is expensive, but he could be a hit ... http://www.hlccl.com/forums/images/smilies/new/liplick.gif

Careca....wow. Will never forget him. If the comparison is accurate, I see rosy days for Lyon in the future. God knows how much Careca contributed to my beloved Napoli.

Whats the point of signing this Fred guy when you had Nilmar. I highly doubt he's that much better than Nilmar. Seems like a dumb signing to me.

Tis a good draw for me Lyon me thinks.
Olympiakos and Rosenborg are crap travellers BUT at home they are tough.
A trip to Trondheim is something no-one will be relishing.
Rosenborg have been playing like crap at home this season also. :(

_Tiago at OL is a done-deal, 4 years contract (+ option
for one more) at €10 millions
http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/20050827_135600_01.html
_Juninho has signed for 3 more years (he's 30,
so I guess he'll end his carreer at Lyon)
http://olweb.fr/fr/cmc/event/140/2005/34/3881.html
_ Fred, that's not done yet (at €12 millions)
but I'm pretty excited about this possible signing:
21 years old, top-goal scorer in Brasil (40 goals
in 43 games)...hmmmm...Bring him in!
Altogether, I think this all sounds really good for
this season's "shopping"

if lyon completes the signing of fred and has all of their players healthy for the cl game with real madrid i dont think there is anything to be worried about because if lyon plays their game they can control the tempo of the game and wear down the some of aging players on real madrid

Ok, this is "taking shape":
Fred arrived in Lyon today, to continue
(and finalize?) "negociations". Ol now talks
about a €15 millions price, also mentions
other clubs are on this deal ("notably serie A
clubs"). Fred will undergo his medical on Monday
(tomorrow)
OL's official press-release:

L'Equipe's article:
http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/20050828_130303Dev.html
Hope this goes through.

Didnt Bordeaux a few years ago bring in a Brazlian who scored an absurd amount of goals down there and when he got to France he completely flopped. Deivid I think his name was.

Yeah, sure, that could always happen: he could be
a flop. Then again, maybe not.
But your enthusiasm is refreshing and... truelly
unexpected

Didn't PSG sign a brazillian in 2001? I hear he plays somewhere in Spain, haven't heard much about him since then. :D

Well lets be real here. Fred is only coming because they failed to get guys like Trezeguet, Baros, Thomasson, and Owen. They persued all those guys and came up empty. Fred is like 5th choice for them.
