mathematically, we've gotta be close to securing the title, (even though, by most accounts its already a foregone conclusion), two more wins and it's trophy time yes?

Three more wins, and Lyon has the title, irrespective of how Lens does. And if Lens loses this weekend, then Lyon only needs two wins.
I wish I could be happier...

to me the other cups don't mean much. it was the CL that really bummed me out. i think OL was a little overambitious this season, in the sense that they were fighting on too many fronts. look at Liverpool, they don't do much in the league but they are lethal in europe. i kind of wish it was the same way with Lyon.

Diarra has been sanctioned by the club for refusing to play in reserves.

I'm beginning to really not like Diarra, even though he's great for me with Lyon in Winning Eleven/Pro Evo Soccer.
Sell him to a 2nd division team!
You're either with Lyon, or against them. Diarra seems more alinged with the latter instead of the former. Screw him.

I'd rather Ben Arfa be loaned to a club like PSG than play in the reserves.

We might, assuming that PSG would save their L1 status..

I don't understand OL fans.As if winning the Ligue 1 trophy 6 years in a row isn't interesting  .The CL defeat to Roma was really disappointing, but at least you lost to a very competitive and skilled side.Roma may even beat Manchester United and reach the semi-finals.

the tough part is that even if being champion demands the most of a team, the most depth, concentration, continuity etc, etc... it's the least exciting to win. there's no trip up to the president's box, holding up a trophy that still belonged to no one 10 minutes earlier while fireworks go off over your dizzy head...
and especially when you sew it up 5 or more matchdays from the end, you can almost forget you won anything at all!
annus horribilus.

Well the 7-1 drubbing of roma doesn't make me feel any better about the team. Why didnt we do that?? But you have to agree with guingol on this one. The league had been basically sewn up since december. Where's the excitment in that. I feel great about it, but not excited. What I did feel excited about was finally getting past the quarters in the CL and lifting up the league cup to get a double. Neither of which happened. So I feel a little down. OL's recent form hasnt been helping much either.

maybe a major shake-up this summer is just what the doctor ordered. i know stability is important but hell, OL has some cash and why don't they spend it. it seems to work for the teams in the premier league. lets buy some exciting players and see what happens.

You mean a major shakeup like this:
Lyon could be facing mass exodus (http://au.setanta.com/portal/article/football::european?open&articleid=d6eb58e6068301d7802572bb00568487)
Reports are circulating that French champions Lyon could lose up to eight of their star players at the end of the current season.
According to certain reports, a number of first-team players have become very unhappy about how the club has been run in recent months and are disappointed to once again fail to make their mark in the Champions League.
One such example of discontent in the squad is manifested through manager Gerard Houllier's public falling out with midfielder Alou Diarra for refusing to play in a reserve team match.
The cracks have been appearing at the club throughout the past year, despite Lyon opening up a 17 point lead at the top of Ligue 1 and closing in on another title triumph.
It has now been suggested that the exit door is starting to creek open for players like Claudio Cacapa, Florent Malounda, Juninho Pernambucano, Kim Kallstrom, Eric Abidal, Fred, Karim Benzema and Sidney Govou.
Cacapa has turned down the latest contract offer from the club and could be on his way to Spanish side Levante, while Swedish playmaker Kallstrom is linked with Middlesbrough.
French winger Malounda is said to have alerted the curiousity of Roma, Manchester United and Bayern Munich. Striker Sidney Govou is also a transfer target for Bayern and Liverpool.
Arsenal are said to be interested in both defender Eric Abidal and roaming hitman Fred, but could make a surprise swoop for youngster Karim Benzema - a player that AC Milan have reportedly been keeping tabs on.
The other player linked with a move away is Brazilian free-kick specialist Juninho Pernambucano, who could join Juventus if they win promotion back to the Serie A.
I know it's just gossip, but is it bad that I found it both hilarious and alarming at the same time?

Aulas's insistence that Houllier will be around next year is on the front page of ESPN's Europe section (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/section?id=europe&cc=5739).
That picture of him is just priceless.
