nice pick up mike, just got the exact same one monday! I'm hoping that by wearing it, OL will be rejuvenated!

and may i apologize for my absence over the past month and a half, i dont know if you heard, but some earthquakes in taiwan disrupted international internet connections for over a month in china. the only reason i can get onto big soccer is because im back in the states. having no internet means i'm also painfully ignorant as to why the faaaaaak we've been playing like merde. but me thinks the "malaise at lyon" will probably answer my preguntas.

Ya, I'm holding out hope that Subside gets some more Juninho jerseys on-hand. If not, I'd get Malouda or Fred.

Fabio Santos will start the game against Lorient, Houllier said. No surprise, I think he's a Clement-like with more experience ! :)

What a match !!

When Grax scored the third goal, I thought, okay, this is too much of a gap, it's over. So I stopped watching the game and went out for lunch.

Serves me right for doubting my Gones. Of course Lyon will always find a way to score two goals in the last five minutes. We haven't scored that many goals (three) in a long time.

Unfortunately, we didn't win the match, but I was happy that we made such a big comeback. I'm also thrilled that Baros scored. :)

But bad news: I found this on Football.fr:

Benzema vers la sortie
24/02/2007 - 10:50

It's basically saying that since Lyon recruited Baros, Benzema asked to be placed on the transfer list this summer. The club has placed a value of 15 million Euros on him but would rather convince him to stay.

Karim, please stay. :(

What the hell... Would Benzema have stayed if Carew had stayed? Either way, he's 3rd choice...

I'd rather keep Benzema and offload Baros...

Aulas has threatened (http://www.football365.fr/depeches/filinfo_154412_34_Lyon-Aulas-menace.shtml) to send Lyon's B team to the St. Etienne derby because they refuse to move the match day to Friday (which would give OL an extra day of rest before meeting with Roma again).

That's pretty funny considering that Lyon's "B" team would be something this:

Vercoutre
Clerc - Muller - Cacapa - Berthod
Toulalan - Fabio Santos/Diarra - Kallstrom
Wiltord - Baros - Ben Arfa

Not bad for a B team. Though the defense might be leaky. Good thing that St. Etienne's attack as dulled now that they are without Piquionne.

This is ridiculous. Football.fr, But!, Foot transferts... They titled once "Kakà to Paris ?" or "Totti: visa pour l'OM". That's the same. Karim Benzema is here for a LOOOONG time !

I hope we field that team. CL is of much, much, much greater importance than a derby match where ASSe doesn't want to move the game forward. If they want the 1 or 3 pts, they can have it. I just want the guys to be ready and healthy for Roma.

the hottest topic is probably Ol's equalizing with a penalty in the dying seconds, but remember there were TWO penalties awarded in the game, and you can say the same thing about both of them: both fouls are clear, but neither in any way impeded the other side from a scoring (cris' foul comes after the shot).

allowing 3 goals to sochaux is embarrassing, but the blame is easy to lay; cris wasn't very good, and müller and berthod were worse. the normal backline stops those counterattacks in their sleep. and of course OL's pressing forward with all hands had something to do with it.

baros scored, but could have had another, the chances were there.

on the good side, OL dominated over large periods and in spurts of 10 minutes play was fast and furious. next bright spot, fabio santos and källstrom both had great games. add to that the return to action of benzema and wiltord and you have a very positive outing... you can't expect benzema's first match back to be his best, but it's a start. as for nino... what can you say?

last and far from least was the hunger to win, even from 2 goals down on 85', that OL showed. after his penalty, juni grabs the ball out of the net and runs it out to the circle... even richert had to applaud that kind of attitude!

finally got to watch the highlights of the game. what a goal from Wiltord. He showed there why he's been a staple on the national side for so long.

and good stuff from Baros. i think he's proving to be a good signing. i wish him continued success.

I've yet to see the highlights, but it does seem that Baros has quickly adapted to the team. IMO, that kind of equals out buying a big name guy (Ronaldo?) who would have taken some time to settle in before May...

I don't believe in buying a big name striker anymore simply because Lyon can't afford it.

if Benzema is 3rd choice its through no fault of his own. somehow i think if he hadnt picked up an injury he'd be on par goalwise with Fred. his inexperience is his only drawback.

nice move by Aulas. The champions league should be Lyon's higest piority right now. Didn't get to see the game, but its great to see Lyon battling back once game. Maybe theyve regained some of that fire that's been missing the past 2 months.
