you'll have to arm yourself with patience (can you say that in english? )

and here's some news that had to come sooner or later:

19/01/06 - 17:35 Claudio Caçapa injured
The MRI scan, underwent by the Lyon captain on Thursday afternoon revealed a tear behind his left hamstring. He will be out of action for between six and eight weeks and will therefore miss the Champions League last 16 tie against PSV Eindhoven.

You are multi-posting in other threads.

Who fills in for Cacapa during the injury?

So do you slide Diarra into Cacapa's spot and use Pedretti in the midfield?

We've still got Monsoreau though. Now that Berthod has returned from injury, GH is gonna be able to play Monsoreau-Cris combo at the back line.

i still haven't digested last night, neither the match nor the kebab (too much harissa!) so i'll start by answering SMSM's questions.

first, lacombe: he's now "special advisor" to aulas (also called JMA), and the real brains behind the club, and as long as we have him we'll keep winning no matter who is coach. when you say "great job lyon chairman", you're absolutely right, and the best thing he does is listen to lacombe!

as for luyindula: the luyindula affair was like a mini essien affair. OL repeatedly stated he was NOT for sale, but OM fed a big rumor mill in the press, then started tapping up peguy's agent, and turned the whole atmosphere so sour that we had to let him go against our will. the whole thing was a fiasco, most especially for luyindula, who last year was in the curious position of getting booed off the field from the fans and badmouthed in the press by management even though he was the team's leading scorer!!!! i'm glad to see he's getting respect at auxerre; incidentally he got a big hand when he came in last night, (as did violeau when he went off) and before the match there was a banner thanking santini for our first two trophies. gerland is a classy crowd (especially the VN:cool: !)

and now the unhappy part: an experience that reminded me of the match lost to guingamp in the closing minutes two years ago; it's true that this was a nil, not a loss, and we are now being chased instead of doing the chasing, but in the end the feeling is similar, a sort of vulnerability, which i hope is more just in my mind than in the players'!

the first half was very balanced, and if juni, carew and wiltord looked tired and off balance, at least pedretti and especially clerc looked good. clerc had about 4 or 5 good crosses that mostly went to waste, was solid on defense, and even took a pretty nice shot. the goal by diarra just before halftime(actually a pass nino could have taken for his own goal counter, but let roll in by itself) looked like business as usual, which is OL having the luck that comes with experience which it takes to win the close games.

the second half started catastrophically, lyon looked content to sit back and wait for AJA, which is just not the way they play the best. and when they did take off on counterattack it was fleur au fusil, caution to the wind, and they were in bigger danger than if they had attacked normally. the ball was basically being moved by clerc or malouda, (who was playing left back, where we're likely to see him until either berthod or abidal are back); just to give an idea about what the offense was like. i don't think OL got a shot on goal until the last 20 minutes!

juni duffed a couple of FK's that fred missed a sitter about 10 minutes from the end, but things still looked like it would be OK (like always). then a big break (with about 6 white jerseys taking off) led by malouda stalled when fred jumped the gun and went offside; the ball was stolen, auxerre took off in the other direction and did us in. actually peguy looked offside, but the linesman (hopefully) had a better look than me!

a last note: a very clean match, very fluid, nice to watch in its own way...

oh heck, i'll get over it...:(

guess who guignol jr. saw when he arrived at school this morning...

juninho, cris and tiago!

it's a magnet school that's international, and they're opening up a portuguese section, hence the local lusophone celebrities. it's also at gerland, which made it easy for them to pop by.

had PE first class today, and he was wearing his juninho jersey to boot, so i reckon he got a chance to get his jersey signed and talk to his hero!

That's a great story. If I owned a Lyon jersey Juninho would be the one I would get.

That's a great story. If I owned a Lyon jersey Juninho would be the one I would get.mine says cris!

that's another reason i'm not sure cris would ever leave. he's become such a crowd favorite: he's said he got goosebumps the first time he heard gerland chanting CRIS-CRIS-CRIS-CRIS-CRIS-CRIS... not even in the minerao had he had anything like that. i can't find a pic of the super brazil tifo from earlier this year, too bad...

guys like juni, claudio and the great sonny anderson might tell him, "cris, you're a grown man, you do what you want. but you're in brazilian footballers' paradise, where you gonna go that's better than this!"

a continuation of yesterday's school story: juninho either didn't make it or didn't stay long, but cris gave him a smile and put his arm on his shoulder, should be in today's papers. and he got on TV. and the killer, it's likely that the lusophone kids of the players will go to school there!
