I disagree.

MLS has grown at speed it has grown doing exactly what this writer says, and it is still strugling on and off the field.
That one "irrelevant" international game could give more exposure to the league than all the of others together. The effect won't kill anyone either. So, why lose the chance to do something different that brings MLS into the spot light? What if things go better this way? What if the team that let go on or two players has the chance to start an unknown that has his shot of a life time? (add you own 'what if" of things that can go right! )
I believe in permanent changes under controlled conditions in search of a better place, than not doing anything at all due to the risk of the unknown.
Sometime I win sometime I lose, but the ride is fun. :D

Hey ESPN you know what? we got your number. STFU and give our game a better reputation. After all, you only care about your business. If you'd care about us you were going to be pushing this cart with us and not stepping in front us telling us what things we are doing wrong. When this cart arrives you are going to be laughing all to the bank and congratulating youselves for a job well done.

You think Galarcep is bought by ESPN? Where the hell are you coming from?

I disagree, this Real Madrid game undermines the integrity of the league. Would Chelsea ever willingly send Robben and Drogba in mid-season (rather with 10 games left in the Premiership) to join an EPL all-star game to face off against the Metros in the Gotham Cup (as an example)?

Of course they wouldn't. So why then, does MLS risk injury (like to Youri in this case, who has been fragile, and is now rounding in to form, he has to play 3 matches in a week...) to it's star players to play a meaningless friendly. It's pointless, and some cheap publicity is not worth it

Same with the other matches. DC held Chelsea? No they didn't. They held a pre-season Chelsea going through the motions. DC couldn't beat Pumas, and they held Chelsea? Come on.
