I disagree.
MLS has grown at speed it has grown doing exactly what this writer says, and it is still strugling on and off the field.
That one "irrelevant" international game could give more exposure to the league than all the of others together. The effect won't kill anyone either. So, why lose the chance to do something different that brings MLS into the spot light? What if things go better this way? What if the team that let go on or two players has the chance to start an unknown that has his shot of a life time? (add you own 'what if" of things that can go right! )
I believe in permanent changes under controlled conditions in search of a better place, than not doing anything at all due to the risk of the unknown.
Sometime I win sometime I lose, but the ride is fun. :D
