US Open Cup Semis Site Selection

On the FSC PDL game tonight it was announced that if Rochester advances they will either host F*C* Dallas, or travel to DC United for the semifinal round on September 14th. Date and site TBD of course. They are playing Chicago.

Jay! This is already known. If we get to the semis on September 14th, we MUST be the home team, because we have a game the following day in Copa Sudamericana. As much grief as they get, the USSF is not stupid enough to have us flying all over the place the day before we are representing MLS in an international tournament. I'm still hoping they would move the game up a week, so we wouldn't have that conflict to begin with. That's the REAL issue. First things first though. We have to WIN.

i'm not so sure USSF has anything to do with it. I believe the Open Cup schedule was out long before the Copa SudAmerica dates. I think it's simply a matter of the lower seeded team gets the home game until the Semis and then the higher seeded gets to choose. I think Dallas was not higher seeded than Rochester considering their record last year. I also think it very likely the pen Cup match will be moved to another date if DC does advance. We are not likely to have to play two such matches in a row.
Just a thought.
