Why does Rafa refuse to go after Owen wholeheartedly? It seems Owen back at Anfield would be great for the club. You can't tell me that Cisse and Goonie McGoonerson are better than Cisse and Owen. WE NEED MICHAEL BACK!

Fo shizzle.

If Owen wants to come back so bad, go tell him to pay his own transfer fee.

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY like that idea, otherwise let Rafa do the business we don't need Owen like you all think. If he thinks it would be nice to have him and it doesn't interfere with the other plans I'm, sure we'll see him at Anfield. If not, oh well.

It's hardly a matter of Benitez being stubborn though, is it? The board are in negotiations with Real Madrid and things will happen when they happen - and only on terms we can accommodate. Meanwhile, Benitez is right to maintain his focus on the centre-back and right midfielder we do atually need more urgently than another striker.

Yes, we've been struggling to hit the target thus far, but we are only talking about two games here, it's hardly a trend.

If Owen takes a reasonable pay cut it wouldn't be too bad.

I'm really not sold on how or where he fits into Rafa's 4-5-1. So although he may feature at home with Mori or Crouch... he may not be played much on the road. That really pits him vs. Cisse which could be a great thing or a horrible thing.

I'm just happy we're through. However, the lack of finishing from the front two for the whole of this year has been very unnerving to say the least. Cisse has problems with his final touch, Moro will work his arse off for you, but he his finishing is off. I think Michael will help us a great deal. But I also think our most serious problem is at the CB position. We have no one capable of adequatley spelling Carra or Sami. I think we go after a CB first, Owen second.

Whilst I agree with much of what you say, the latter part is the part that worries me. I had a very similar feeling last year, I thought 'Well it's only the start of the season, we have months left to improve' and we fell short, I recognise that imjuroes were a huge part of our game last year but still I have concerns.

Now, I'm not saying that Owen is the answer (I actually really like Morientes), but he'd be welcome back in my book, but not to an automatic place, he chose to leave, he can't just waltz back in now, but he is a proven goalscorer.

KopThat!

I really want to like Morientes but that 'performance' of his last night was simply awful. I think that has to be the most woeful 'performace' by any star player I've ever seen. Almost every first touch he made was crap. We NEED Owen back and nobody who is reasonable can doubt that.

look, i think the club needs owen back. not because of any nostalgic feeling, either. more like the sinking feeling i experience every time moro misses a sitter.

however, i trust rafa. he wants what's best for liverpool. owen wants what's best for owen, as he misguidedly "proved" last year when he went to madrid.

i've got to laugh when i read about how the club's supporters "love" owen and are mad to get him back. owen may be the most underappreciated star to ever matriculate through the LFC galaxy. i still remember when fowler was supended back in '01, the kop was chanted fowler's name even as owen was on the pitch scoring goals. did owen's popularity increase in his absence?

Rafa needs to make a bid i think.
Owen is on the verge of agreeing a loan to the Toon.
It would be a shame to miss out on this.

Fact is, you guys suck at scoring. Without Gerrard you suck even more. (A la CSKA Sofia.)

You either need Michael or another proven scorer in the Premier League, not a skinny-ass Spanish right-mid or skinny-ass Spanish center back. God forbid Rafa actually purchases an ENGLISH player who would be USEFUL.

Whatever. Miss out on Owen and it'll be your loss.
