From what i've seen, the major difference between college and h.s. soccer is the speed of play. In college, speed of thought and play is miles quicker than that of high school. When u get the ball, try 2 b composed and make a good decision with it. Also college soccer is much more physical so be ready 4 that and try 2 show that u can handle that side of the game. Since u play right back, i'd advise that when ur man has the ball, u contain him and try 2 show him towards the sideline. Keep ur feet and dont dive in with a wild tackle. Just keep close 2 him, wait 4 a mistake and take the ball away. Depending on how the right midfielder in front of u plays will determine how many overlapping runs u can make. Try 2 keep it simple though and show the coaches that u can defend and tackle. Hope this helps and good luck with your tryouts!

I've played with some college players this summer (18-20 years) and I gained a lot from this. Beside thedefender23's comment I can add that never wait till the ball comes right to your feet. What I mean is when you see someone passing the ball to you, always rush to it as it comes in your direction. The players are so fast that your teamates won't even be able to scream you 'man on' before the ball will be intercepted.

If your playing right back when the keeper has the ball in his hands try take it off him by coming to the right of him, always makes you look like a good player and it always impresses everyone cause you like to pass the ball out of the back and you are comfortable with it.

Yeah, come high and wide. Don't be scared to get on the ball.

Thanks for the reply's guys.. it's cool im probably not going to start but im playing pretty strong against them and i can keep up with most of them good.. but when i get the ball and try to play out i will play it to a wide mid (which he sucks and looses it all the time if he is there he tries to be a 3rd striker) so i play it to the center mid and he dosent get to it so i have to play it long and hard usually ( to someone) but while im trying im getting clobbered any ideas??? i just think i need a better wide mid to play out thanks for everything guys soo much help!!!! btw college is great!!!

Thanks

How the hell did you get into college when you're just 16  ?
