Lets hope no one saw that, he was the most uncharistatic athlete ever to be on sportscenter. And his ranking of most popular sports? He puts the MLS over baseball? Did he say that if the US doesnt win the WC, then it would be a dissapointment?

I'd be disappointed if we don't win the WC, and if you're a real fan, then you would be too. We may not expect to win, but it still sucks when we lose.

Landon Donovan on the HOT SEAT:
if you could compare yourself to an athelete in another sport, who would it be and why?
LD: just on looks and sex appeal, probably like, derreck Jeeter, no, I don't know man. possibly...ah, you put me on the spot
it's called the Budweiser Hot Seat
LD: I'll say, Wayne Gretzky.
On a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being highest, rate the Pro Sports leagues
on how you perceive their popularity in the US.
MLB
LD: 3
NFL
LD: 10
MLS
LD: 5
Why 5?
LD: We've got a ways to go, I think people respect us, they enjoy watching us, but it's not fully in the American concious yet.
why higher than Baseball?
LD: It's pretty obvious, I mean, I'm a big baseball fan, but it's pretty disappointin right now.
you say "pretty obvious, what do you mean, why would it be so obvious?"
LD: They are moving backwards, and it's fun to go out to the game and watch, but you want to watch the real thing, you don't want to watch people that are cheating.
Take your pick, Beckham's worldwide fame and fortune, or Pele's skills
LD: Beckham's wife, no, I'ld say Pele's skills
What would qualify as a successful showing for the US in the '06 WC
LD: We have to win it, we have to win it. Once the Women started winning, that's when they were on the map and America is all about winning.
Landon Donovan you are officially off the HOT SEAT

Donovan is right on about baseball. It is about more than attendance.

This might be why so many around the boards can't stand the US, it's the optimism, best thing he said in the Hot Seat
