Some thoughts from Smyth:

[The US] Should basically win - already beat them at T&T.

Lewis will be attacking left fullback.

Kasey Keller had better stay fit - the dropoff after Keller is considerable. Howard's not playing. Howard is probably better off right now as Man U #2 right now.

Reyna - O'brien means two very good, experienced players. Reyna is captain of Citeh, everywhere he goes he's captain. Reyna has beautiful touch, controls game.

Donovan and McBride up front together. Ralston and Convey out wide.

From T&T - watch for John and Yorke.

No such thing as realistic expectations in World Cup. Getting out of the 1st round will be very tough. Apparently we lost 4-0 against Poland. We won't surprise anybody this time around.

I missed ol Tommy, thanks Nutmeg.

Well that's the lineup that various folks have posted- I'm psyched.

I don't know about losing to Poland 4-0, but I can easily see us not making it out of the 1st round in Germany, depending on the group, but that's another discussion we'll be having soon for months on end. Whee!

The importance of finishing 1st in our group is very apparent when you start talking about Germany.

Glad to know that Tommy Smyth is still providing the same useless and uninformed commentary that I always remember him for.

Yeah, and there was this big thread about a comment he made about US soccer technique not being up to WC'02 level. He can't even track the WC'02 scores?

(I'll probably get flamed for this) :)
