He's a competitive guy, so of course he wants to play and is frustrated, as he should be.

Still, his main argument seems to be that because he's at ManU, he should be a starter. Well, he had a poor season last year when he actually played for them and the last game he got for the US, Poland friendly I believe, he played not so well and let in a soft goal. He needs to face the fact that he's a backup in both spots because of his on-field performance.

I know many here like his attitude of fighting for his spot and all, but I think he is sadly mistaken if he doesn't think he'd be doing both his standing on the national team and his progress as a player a favor by going somewhere where he could see the field in competitive matches regularly.

I dont buy for a second that just because you are on Man U's roster that makes you better than other people. Keller is much more consistent than Howard right now and almost never allows a soft goal. Tim would be better served being loaned out to a lower level premiership team for a few years and then come back to Man U. He needs to play everyday.

Today is "I fell pretty" day in YA-World. Bobby Convey playing well has turned everything upside-down. That's why I (YA dweller) am hanging out over here.

"It's about being a big boy. I could leave there and come home and be labeled a hero," said Howard with a chuckle. "I could have, but I stuck it out. It's not easy in Europe and I hear so many people complaining and whining, for what? It's not easy and it never was going to be easy. Do I just pack up and leave and go somewhere where it's easier? I could, a lot of people would and do. I chose not to do that. I choose to fight it out."

A dig at Lando?

When was Kirovski on the ManUtd roster?

Like Jovan Kirovski was?

like Tallavana says, Jovan never made the first team and he never made 80 appearences over 2 years for United. Hell yes that means he's better then pretty much all of his competition. Think Hahneman or Reis or Cannon wouild get a SNIFF of the Manchester United #1?

Depends on when the jersey was washed last.

Keller's got an extra decade of experience under his belt, too. That tends to help out a lot.

As for the teams that struggle, that isn't necessarily a good situation to be in. I wouldn't assume that just because the team is in the prem that they have good coaching, good GK coaching, and such. The haven't a lot less resources at their disposal than Manu, to say the least.

I like Tim. I'm a Metro fan and he is one of my favorite Metros ever. He is more talented than those other guys but at the end of the day you have to prove it on the field and you shouldnt feel entitled to something because you play at Man U. I think he is mistaken to think that.

To an extent. He has proven that he CAN succeed in the premiership. He has also proven that he can fail. Where he chooses to go from here is up to him... to an extent.

I too am a big Timmy fan from his metros days and look forward to him assuming his position after this cycle as our keeper. But he isn't on Kasey Keller's level yet. He can be on his good days. But his bad days are still too frequent.

Tim I love ya, but you signed a new deal in May (http://www.manutd.com/news/fullstory.sps?iNewsid=176066&itype=466&icategoryid=123) knowing full well that MUFC was in the market for a starter who was not you. And Bruce prefers players to bench-warmers. So get yourself loaned out to a team who will play you, or you will have a season full of Fizzy Lifting Drink Cup matches against Scunthorpe and Rushden.

You expressed what I was trying to say much better. Bruce wants people playing everyday on the club level. For example, he just said he hopes Gooch stays in Belgium until the World Cup and doesn't go to Man U because he knows he will play everyday. He said the same thing about EJ earlier in the year. He said he should stay in Dallas through the World Cup because he will play everyday. Knowing Bruce's feelings on this issue, I don't think Tim should be so surprised that he has fallen down the pecking order since he became a backup even if it is at Man U. If his goal was to be the starter in the 06 world cup signing a contract to be the backup at Man U this year wasnt a very wise move for this cycle.

Yup, although displacing Keller even then would have been a challenge. If Keller gets hurt (JINX!), then it becomes fairly wide open, especially with Friedel not in the mix. Although I think Friedel could see that Keller had a substantial inside track this time around, and decided to step away. I suppose if Howard were the ManU starter, and playing blinders, then it would be a competition with Keller, but that brings us back to the beginning, which is that Howard isn't getting playing time.
