Welcome back to the Hammers. It's our home opener so don't expect the welcome wagon to be out.

The Hammers pounded Blackburn 3-1 looked impressive doing so, we on the other lost to the Steve Bennet lead Gooners 2-0 away.

I feel we shall rebound nicely at home with the newboys in the midfield getting on the scoresheet.

3-0 to the Toon

Emre Parker Dyer

From NUFC.com

Our first Premiership home game of the season sees newly-promoted West Ham visit SJP for a Saturday 3pm start.

NUFC: To follow....Ameobi serves the last game of his suspension. Bramble is injured.

WHUFC: To follow. New loan signing David Bellion is in line to make his Hammers debut at SJP, although he's not 100% fit.

The former mackem is yet to finish on the winning side after facing us three times, a draw and a loss for the wearsiders plus a draw for Man U in 2004.

However he did score on his last visit to Tyneside, in March of this year when his penalty gave Man U reserves a 1-1 draw.

Emre fitness fight

Aug 19 2005

By Simon Rushworth, The Journal

Emre is facing a fight to be fit for next Wednesday's trip to Bolton after the talented midfielder withdrew from Newcastle's squad to face West Ham United tomorrow.

The Turkish international was forced out of his country's friendly international against Bulgaria after just 26 minutes on Wednesday night.

And after an assessment on a sore hamstring yesterday it was decided that immediate rest is the best course of action for a player not expected to resume training until next week.

"I spoke to Emre and he is extremely disappointed," explained the player's agent, Ahmet Bulut, after contacting his client to ascertain the extent of an injury which has further darkened the mood on Tyneside.

"His injury is not so bad but the verdict is that he will not be able to play this weekend. He has been told that he could return to training by Wednesday but we will wait and see.At what point did we piss God off?

At what point did we piss God off?

When I read "Emre fitness fight" I immediately thought he and Scotty Parker might have engaged in fisticuffs, Bowyer/Dyer style.

What a relief.

I'm optimistic that the Toon can get past West Ham, but with one eligible forward only and Emre out as well, I can't get past the feeling that this might be a land-mine of sorts. Granted it could be a bit of a let-down for the Hammers after the win last week, but something about this matchup has me a bit nervous. Perhaps it's that NUFC have no new striker additions, hm?
