Ok so I've never tried them and I was looking for opinions of those who have. Simply put, do you think they work well? If so, what specific ones?

you're not going to get much benifit from using protein bars as replacement meals.

But, if you're drinking shakes and eating bars as supplements, providing that your protein consumption from regular meals are good enough and that you're actually doing some kind of strength exercise, you'll begin to see the difference.

I don't do protein bars. Even the ones that are supposed to taste better taste like sh!t. I use "Whey Tech" powder from Body Tech, in vanilla flavor.

I like them. There are many that are good tasting, such as Cliff bars and my personaly faovirte Balance Bar. Balance bars are very helpfuly if you are doing the 40/30/30 diet, which maximizes your athletic performance. I alwasy have one an hour or 2 before the game

CLIF and Balance are more of energy bars than protein bars they'll boost your energy for a few hours, but won't be any useful for building muscle.

I don't agree that Balance bars taste any good, but CLIF actually tastes decent. But there isn't enough protein (like 10g) to make much difference. Make yourself 3 eggwhites and you've got the same protein content for a lot better taste.

A real protein bar would be something like Tri-O-Flex, which has 30g of protein. It's one of the better tasting protein bars, made by a former hotel chef, but still tastes like a rotten banana. not that i ever tasted a rotten banana...
