The guy have got a flying start in France i see! He´s playing his best since his first season in Valencia, can he keep the good work going? Honestly i don´t think so,but for Norway i hope so,we got some important wc qual coming up! What do you french think of him? And how do Ben Arfa,Nasri and Menez doing this far?

Of course he can keep it going. Physically he has the qualities of a world class striker. Whether he ends this season on 15-20 goals or more or just 5 goals is entirely up to him, if he can continue enjoying himself he can continue scoring.

I'd be shocked i really would. Carew has the physical attributes to be a very good striker but technically he lacks soo much.

I disagree. Carew has showed on several occasions how good technique he really has.

He has a good technique, definitely. i think a lot of people have been surprised in France because nobody expected anything from him, but his debut has been impressive (I think he's scored 8 goals in 4 matches !).

I guess we will just have to disagree on this. I'll admit i haven't seen his goal this season but i watched him play in a couple of preseason games for Lyon and he still looked to have the same faults in his game as before. His control was still poor and his finishing was very erratic. He kept making basic mistakes.
If he has started the season well, then i am pleased for him, i always remember how he supported Henry and Vieira when his own Valencia fans were racially abusing them. I just doubt that he has improved to such an extent that people would considered his technical skills 'good'. He is still work in progress IMO.

I have to disagree too. He has excellent ball control. He accelerates like nobody's business. His heading technique is wonderful. I dont see how anyone can think that he's not a very capable player and by his current form he's an amazing player.
Case in point: Against Auxerre he scored a "perfect hat-trick". Left foot. Right foot. Header.
Beat that.

Please ignore bruiser. He thinks Carew is the 7th best striker in the world, despite several people pointing out his rather pathetic goal scoring record. After all, the fundamental role of a striker is to score goals. Take a look at bruiser's location, that sums everything up. ;)

good technique he really has.
Like when he played for Roma and scored 6 goals in 25
appearances?
Please. His technique is average.
As Ibrahimovic said: "What Carew can do with a football,
I can do with an orange." And at 24 years old there is no
chance his skill set will radically change . . .

Do you two morons like follow each other and pick at people's oppinions? And are you so pathetic you can't pick a fight solo?
I have by the way never said Carew is 7th best in the world (did you actually count down my list wich I said were in no particular order? How old are you?). He IS however "IMO" one of the world's best strikers "RIGHT NOW".
Ignore these two sad excuses of a human beings, people. They're just out to enlarge their internet penises™, and will not accept anything sane or well thought out as something factual. Not in their small minded oppinions anyway.

There is absolutely no evidence for Carew being one of
the world's best strikers. His strike rate is mediocre; just
a fact.
Your idea that his preseason form for Lyon justifies him
being called one of the world's best strikers (I assume
that is what you mean by "right now") is so amazingly
shallow as to call into question your biases. Namely that
you're Norwegian and have an irrational love for this player.

And 7 goals and one Player of the Week-award later they still think Carew is crap.
People can be so unbelievably unaware it's frightening.

I find this amusing. "Player of the Week" = one of the World's
Best Strikers in your brain. Impressive logic.

OH MY GOD. Would you please consider GROWING UP anytime soon? You might even have a few years on me, but you're no doubt the most immature person I've ever seen "argumenting" on these boards, wich says ALOT.
What the PotW-award SHOWS, is that he has been instrumental in the success of Lyon. His PERFORMANCES is what tells me he is one of the best.
Please, just consider it. Growing up that is, not accepting my response, cos I know you're not mature enough to do that just yet.

Anyone who is surprised by how well Carew is doing obviously never watched him at Valencia.
The guy has loads of talent.

carew's technique? he's not thierry henry, for sure, but i've been pleasantly surprised. he gets available in the crease, protects the ball well in small spaces, turns well and doesn't muff his shots.
at OL he's surrounded by players with plenty of technique. he adds something different and has been an enormous addition to the club so far.

well, well, well...
the fiver's quote of the day:
"I may be from Norway but I know who he is. I remember one incident I
saw on TV when he smashed his way through five opponents. So it's a
real compliment to be compared to him, even though one defender is
sometimes too much for me!" - Lyon striker John Carew welcomes, and
discredits, the suggestion that he is the Jonah Lomu of football.
a small measure of celebrity!

And Carew took the challenge before the game against Sweden earlier this summer, he used an orange as a ball in front of the swedish journalists.
Carew has improved alot since he came to Lyon, he has to be one of the strongest players there is. I like this guy more and more.
