Before I didn't care much about him,but given yesterday's dismal perfomance,I welcome him to bolster our midfield

I think even if you had played impressively still you would have wanted the industrious Essien to join, i personally ranked him the best midfield holder last season and i would have wanted him to play his trade at camp nou given that he is still young with a room to improve but there you go..
speaking of the match against the battling Wigan, it`s only one match i don`t think it really shows if a team needs changes. unlucky not to have got a point, at least the match was won with a spectacular effort on the other hand a more sharper Camara would have done demage.

Good shout ACM.
You can't really tell anything from one match but, to be honest, Frank, in particular, has looked off the pace in pre-season. He didn't perform all that well against you fellas in the States - well, not as good as he can be.

Never been a big fan of Gudjohnsen as the third MF in a 4-3-3. I just dont think he brings enough in terms of tackling and combativeness to the table, plus he limits Frank's ability to roam. At the front of a diamond or withdrawn behind the strikers he is alright but we are just too lightweight with him in his current spot. I thoguht Cole did a better job there in limited viewings last year and I would welcome the chance to get him on the pitch for more minutes, even in a less attacking role. But if Essien is now here, I think that will spell the end of Joe and Eidur's chance of taking that spot, and Tiago will be his backup.

Not sure.
If recent evidence is anything to go by, (probably not to be frank), JM seems to have taken a liking for a Duff and Robben partnership or a Cole and SWP partnership alternative so that means Joe's thought of as more of an out and out forward who can tackle back a bit. Same as SWP I believe.
In the Wigan game SWP made a great last ditch tackle to stop a fella getting in on goal. Not sure I've ever seen Duff OR Robbie back that far but I may be wrong. I think Joe's probably the same. They both may not be so dangerous going forward as the other pair, (although we're still not too sure of how SWP's going to do in a Chelsea shirt in that regard), but they both get a foot in more I believe. That may be just a impression though.
I heard on ChelseTV that Joe and SWP get on famously when they're with England so maybe THAT'S got something to do with the pairing. If so gotta be good for England in the long run, (as well as Chelsea), for years to come.
Well, assuming that dipshit Erikkson ever figures it out... which I doubt.

Can someone tell this Russian monster to stop raising the prices of the world player market? Before people start preying to him like some sort of religous shrine?

If/Once we finally do get Essien in the squad, is he going to be our replacement for Makalele once he retires(hopefully not too soon)? Or are we leaving that role to Lassana Diarra. Because I remember reading that Essien is more of a defensive midfielder, which is where Makalele usually plays for us. A lot of people were tipping him to replace Lampard in the games where Lampard is rested, or cannot play, but if I remember correctly, Lampard isn't really a defensive midfielder.

Doubt they get Chapelle (sp) Show in the UK, excellent likeness though :D
I know each time a new player comes in it must put a strain on the team. Heard Jarosik is on his way out. Do you think anyone else will move on now or in January, or can Jose keep everyone happy in the MF? Looks like Spurs won't be winning against you anytime soon with your team. Unless you play like you did on Saturday, that is ;) .
