Seems like the Milan game got the soft core fans interested in the team. Too bad they now go on the road until October.

:( Don't remind me. I want to cry. Bridgeview can't open soon enough... Section 8 will rock in Bridgeview. With a 20k seat stadium instead of a 66k, I imagine we're gonna sound significantly louder! Can't wait.

Thanks for the props.
It's been a tough year. Right now we only have 2 home games left on the year. I've been a season ticket holder since year one and even I haven't been able to make every game. Games 2-3 times per week make it hard to bring people back. That and the international games have made our attendance look worse than perhaps what it may be.

I think that when people actually saw a story on how the Fire were doing and that they still existed, due to AC Milan, the medium fans started coming back out.

Between Section 8's awesome atmosphere, the Fire's athletic, young attacking players, a classy uniform and fantastic 3rd jersey, and the coming of Bridgeview, it looks like Chicago will be the class act of MLS.

Good thing though that they will play a friendly on September 10th fairly close to home. Up in Milwaukee.

I'm thinking the LA Galaxy with the MLS Superstar, HDC, and 23,500 fans per game qualify for the class of MLS. Their lowest attendance this season is 4,000 higher than Chicago's highest at a Fire-only game. They do all this with the entity that is Steve Sampson.
I'll give Fire fans a mulligan until Bridgeview opens. If you don't pack the thing then, quit yer whinin'! :)
By the way, Section 8 is an awesome group of people but in my biased opinion the Barra Brava are much nuttier in a good way.
...and as a DC United supporter, I say win another Cup before beating your chest. OK OK, you're not pathetic losers like the Metros but c'mon, win another cup and we'll talk.

If you had said DC was the class of the MLS, I would have let you slide. But since you dragged LA into this topic, I must now tell you that you have gone horribly off course in your thinking.

Ummm...how about 1996 and 1997 when you didn't exist in the league, and 1999-2004, when you didn't win a championship or have a soccer specific stadium.

Yeah, you've got me on the 1996 and 1997 part.
But do me a favor, and go here:

And go here:

And then, go here:

Maybe I should posted this one earlier...see, you could have saved time by just going here:

Anyways, what you'll find is 1 MLS Cup and 3 US Open Cups.
Thanks.

Who says we didn't win championships from 99-04? I count US Open Cups, conference championships, and regular season Shield victories throughout that period.
And building a stadium was merely the icing, we're plenty whole on our own without the place. But of course with it, we'll be happy to widen the gap.

I didn't know that the Chicago Fire had won so many US Open Cups...the most out of any MLS club it looks like. However, I wouldn't say that makes them the "class act" of MLS, by which I mean the club with the best all-round package (stadium, fanbase, uniforms, tradition, players).
IMHO, this would be DCU from 1996-1999: 4 consecutive MLS cup finals, 3 of which they won, Barra Brava, El Diablo, Jaime Moreno, Llamosa, Agoos, Pope,
Sanneh, Harkes, Roy Lassiter!!
2000-2002:Chicago: Bocanegra, Beasley, Razov, Armas, Novak, Kovalenko, arrival of Stoitchkov, great fans, great coach. Led league in points for both seasons,
2002-present: LA...'02 champ, Sigi Schmid, a hustling Ruiz, HDC, highest over-all attendance, arrival of LD.
