i guess da long version

here is the short. besides candelario and noboa, little to no talent. a good sign for the future is 4 of the u-17 players are from Emelec. Let's hope these guys become stars.

We didn't make the playoffs, but the future is very bright all teams suffer a lapse every now and then but I'm satisfied with the new acquisitions...

sure ok

its just that his charrua(sergio leal) has turned the team around with some nice performances

so you have to go with a winning team and with figueroa we wernt doing jack, up front(not all his fault of course)

and btw most of the blame has been placed on the older peruvian players, not your boy gustavo

Emelec was founded in 1929 as a soccer and baseball team, then a South American championship took place in Ecuador, and Emelec was the first team to have its own stadium so the best soccer players from Latin America as the argentinian Alfredi di Stefano, who is one of the most remembered stars from Real Madrid and River plate, came to play in our field and remembers our people with gratitude where he became famous.

http://www.emelexista.com/images/emelec-interbarrial-spiderkid.jpg

The founder of our team was George Capwell, an american business man who managed the "Empresa electrica" (where our name comes from) and loved baseball, but our people always prefered soccer, so he had to create a soccer team for his employees who appreciated him as a boss.

http://www.emelexista.com/images/capwell-inside.jpg

Emelec was the first ecuadorian champion on the year of 1957
and was the first ecuadorian team to transfer a player to the Italian Calcio : he was Jaime Ivan Kaviedes

Emelec today does not have good managers, so we lost the chance to bring Kaviedes back home, and our rivals (Barcelona Guayaquil) took the opportunity that they always wanted, because through Ecuadors soccer history, they always like our players. Emelec supporters remember Kaviedes because he was another fan on the field, and he used to kiss the blue jersey every time he scored, thing he never did while he was playing for our rivals.

There are many uniforms you can wear, but there is nothing than can change your true love, the blue and gray colors that mark our souls, where you made good friends, and where the best days of your life happened.

http://www.emelexista.com/images/1998.jpg

The first time and European team
was interested in Kaviedes,
was because Perugia´s president
read about him on a website.

Because he scored 43 times
in the ecuadorian soccer league

And all of the fans were counting every goal

"Boca del pozo" was the first known supporters group
in our country, since 1980
and we follow our blue team, everywhere they have to play,
Emelec was born in Guayaquil, but today we have supporters
from the highland and other provinces of Ecuador.

In the year 2001 Emelec played the finals
from the "Merconorte Cup"
which was a tournament between
the northern nations of Latin America.

http://www.emelexista.com/images/emelexista-98-libertadores.jpg

we lost the title in penalty kicks
but the FIFA ranked us number 28 in the world
which is the highest ranking that an Ecuadorian soccer
team has received from the FIFA.

A week later, we won the national title
against El Nacional (a soccer team from Ecuadorian Army)
in out small but comfortable stadium "George Capwell"
in honor of our american founder.

Our rival just needed a draw match to become champion,
but after a corner kick, Richard Borja launched the ball
to Carlos Alberto Juarez´s head , and he scored
for our 9nth national title in the year 2001.

http://www.revistaestadio.com/impresa/1458/c_quinonez2.jpg

In the year 2002, it was a lot harder than 2001
to become champions, because we needed 2 results
to happen in other stadiums to acchieve the miracle
of becoming the "bicampeon del milenio"
(2001 and 2002 the first two years of the 21th century)

And it happened, Barcelona couldn´t win agains LDU quito
and El Nacional lost 4 to 1 with Deportivo Quito.

http://www.emelexista.com/images/emelexista-bicampeones02.jpg

And the last minute of the second half, our captain
Augusto Poroso (who plays as defender) scored
the goal we needed making a "chilenita"
(you get yourself horizontal in the air and score)
and the crowd became crazy, and we singed and danced
in the street that afternoon.

http://www.emelexista.com/images/emelexista-bicampeones01.jpg

The managers of the Ecuadorian Soccer Federation
had the national cup in Quito, because El Nacional and Barcelona
were playing there, and they had the biggest option
and Emelec´s fans had to wait 3 hours until
they brought the cup to Guayaquil and celebrated.
