I just bought their album tonight after I heard Jed the Fish play them as his 'Catch of the Day' on the 'Out of Order' alterna-countdown show.

All I knew, and still know basically, about this band is that they're from Iceland, they have a funny name, and they write really pretty music. ;-)

If you like stuff like Air, the more down tempo tracks from Radiohead, ambient stuff, I guess Bjork without her, erm, interesting vocals ;-) you'll like this.

This album is pretty much one big long 'chill track', if you will...There's not even names for the tracks. The album *itself* doesn't even really have a name. As Jed the Fish said, I guess it would be called 'Left parentheses, Right parentheses', as that's all that's on the cover: () I know it's not some people's cup of tea, but I like stuff like this.

Anyone know more about this band, or is a fan?

In case anyone cares, Sigur Ros was just added to Bjork's upcoming two Brooklyn shows.

Sigur Ros amazes me because they are genuinely original. They fuse the gap between post-rock and modern-rock. Their unconvential style (playing guitars with bow strings, making up a language, etc.) merely add to their appeal.

I have to say that their latest album "( )" was most remarkable, although it had (to me at least) a much different feel from their first (Agaetis Brujin.) It's difficult to describe but this one felt as though there was less singing and more ambience. Perhaps I am wrong, but that was my first perception.
