Speaking of interesting connections, anyone seen Cellular? Watched that again last night and I have to say I really like that movie. Never would've given it a second thought after the previews but my wife made me watch it. Not a whole lot of superfluous dialogue and stuff, just straight drama.
Anyone?
Other than that I'm sitting here waiting for 5.

that flight went up a lot!!!
i hope the price stabilizes a little and my trip to London doesn't skyrocket
I'd book soon, Dan. I noticed I got an e-mail from United in the last few days or so and they are quoting a e-saver type fare for over $600.

Glad I got Leigh's ticket already! Out of Houston it is only $530 with taxes and all.

I would still like to see a bit more competetive Prem where the winner is dictated by quality players and coaching rather than a pocketbook.
that's still the case... Year before last, Arsenal were more consitently better than the rest of the league to go on and win it. Last year, Chelsea lost once, they deserved their victory. If ManCity takes that money and invests it wisely, they might become a high midtable team with growth potential.
Everton took their Rooney money and spent very very wisely. Had they kept Gravesson somehow, imagine where they could be now? They could probably have landed Owen, their team as it is now adding Gravesson and Owen and you've got another top 6 contender and a possible winner of a Cup.
If teams spend money on young players and form a unit, its possible to build and become a better team every year simply by the progress of the players and boost that with a purchase here and there. For all United's money (which is now completely gone of course) we spent didly this summer and still managed to improve our team.
The way I see it is that if you have a Bolton/Redskins mentality (and I'm a damned Redskins fan) you won't get far with out a sugardaddy, but if you base your team around youth then you've got a shot at becoming something and staying something, even without much money. Arsenal did it and now you are expanding.

My boss routinely flies to Germany and always goes when he gets good fares. Took a two week trip in May that cost he and his wife (flight/hotel/railpass) all of $1,500. Shmuck. He's always telling us of when there are great local investing opportunities, provided you have the 10k to throw around. Apparently he doesn't know what we're paid.
Course, he has no kids, either.

by package do you mean hotel and airfare? If so, I am curious about how many nights.
The big 10 (11) basketball schedule was released yesterday, so maybe Doug can begin planning his life around this years illini (no disrespect intented).

why don't you chat with me now? ;) I talked with Heidi (this is after the Big 10 schedule for Illinois basketball got announced yesterday) and the only possible dates she can go in Jan/Feb would be that Jan 28/31 games, and she's not even sure about that b/c she may still be in Thailand for work.
airfare still stinks, over $500, should come down in October though. I hope.
PM me sunshine, we'll put our noggins together and figure this shiznit out.

Bolton's strategy has always been relying on veteran players who some other team overpaid for, and now need a new home to play regularly, even if on loan. Sort of a Raiders mentality :)

Yeah Dan, shop around more...perhaps even with some traveling services that are out of Britain. Coming out of Chicago it should be much less than that. As of yesterday, I could still get one out of Dallas for around $550. Obviously going to have to do some more searching now! :)

I wish. $2.71 a gallon yesterday.
My stepdad was down in Corpus Christi about a week ago and said he saw a place where it was listed at $1.09 and they explained something about an agreement that had to do with the oil tankers, etc. Maybe he misunderstood and this was only for the tankers or something.

You guys would have have a shock with fuel here..........
Over here it's charged in litres, at the moment we are paying around 91p per litre. Which is about £2.70 per US gallon........So about $5 a gallon...........

91p/l is about $6.20 a us gallon in other words DOUBLE. There's a whole class of small cars in Europe that you can't even buy in the US. It's sick.

I was talking with a friend about this the other day. At $5 a gallon I don't think anyone would be re-elected and the politicians here know it. That would absolutely cripple the economy.
Don't even get me started about how good ole dubya stands to profit from the increased price of oil. Assclown.

Good football quote on Sky Sports just now...
Steve Bruce on Clinton Morrison:
"He's probably played in about 90 games over the past three years. That to me is 30 games a season."
