Ah, that fresh match thread smell. :)
Yeah I know we've already played a competitive match, but the league is just the core of it all. Plus I think that for the first time in a while, the league is our undisputed highest priority this year. Saha is the only current major injury, so expect a side similar to the one that played in midweek. Let's get off to a good start this time in the Prem, and not let up until its over. The run to bring the Premiership trophy home begins here.

The team is determined to hit the ground running, and we have a somewhat fit squad, the time is now. I think that Everton wont be able to handle our Triple R attack, it might be too much for them. I say either a 1-0 or 2-0 victory for us. :)

if arsenal can beat them 7-0 then we can surely beat them at least 8-0 ;)

Hopefully, we can whoop so much azz that there won't be times for taking names at any point in the season.
And this game is the start point of that.
This is probably one of the top 5 games of the season that we NEED to win. If we don't get the win (which we will BTW) it will be ok, we can still have a great season.

I"m pretty sure this one is going to be as tough as it was last season. Just because they lost out to Villareal doesn't mean they are going to be more vulnerable, by all means, they feel want to feel more determined and prove to the rest of league that last year wasn't just a one-time thing. I don't think we should start out with the 4-3-3, our midfield will be too exposed this way, we should start with the 4-4-2.

You obviously didn't watch that match. They're a class side and we played quite well against them.

In the big picture, I'm not sure this is one we can "afford" to lose. Losses at Chelsea and Arsenal are "affordable" losses. This is not. These are the kinds of matches you have to win to take the league.

To be honest, with those sorry a$$ defenders they have, we should beat them 5-0. There back line is crap. I dont know how they managed last season. I can see RVN getting his first hattrick of the season, on this key game.
Ok Honestly, we should win thats all. No draws, no loses.

Again, have you seen us play at all? Defense was one of our strong points last year (except when Arsenal was concerned), and with Koldrup back, it will be that much stronger. Based on last season, we should change our motto from Nil Satis, Nisi Optimum to 1-nil or Death!
Seriously, if you want to argue about why you will beat us, at least try to base it in reality.

This game is the most important opener in years as United needs to have something to show for all the hard work this pre-season, the domination of the outclassed Debrecen notwithstanding. Although United is clearly more talented than Everton, Everton will play tough. I'm hoping for an early goal or two that will allow the team to settle and then confidently play Everton off the park. A slow start to the game and all of us will start having flashbacks to last season.

Ok in reality, You defended poor the other night. Your back line is too slow to defend against Ronaldo, and co. The reality is Man Utd should beat you. You do have some bright lights apart from them, Pistone is crap, Yobo, is so so,. I dont even think Koldrup will play as he might go under the knife...

I did say some bogus stuff, but who is your leader in the back and is he really that good?

Koldrup was on the bench against Villareal and will likely be in the lineup or on the bench as Moyes sees fit. He may need surgery in the future, but not right now. Yeah, David Weir doesn't have young legs but he and Stubbs shut down Ronaldo and co. last year. IIRC, you guys didn't even score a goal on us in league play.
I don't doubt that you will win. We've got a boatloads of injuries on key players - Arteta, Cahill, Carsley, Osman, Bent and Naysmith. That alone will make it a one-sided game. Top it off with our inability to play well when we have more than one match in a week and we're toast.
I'm just pointing out your errors in reasoning.

Oh thats ok. Im taking heed. I also see the reasoning in my error. Thanks for pointing it out.

I expect a clean sheet and 3 or 4 goals to the good from us this year in every match.
Yes, I said EVERY.

hey, you two knock it off...
I think this will be a close game in scoreline, but not in play. Everton does not have the offensive tools to threaten us and right now, don't even have the midfield to make it competitive, but they will try hard and won't make things easy for us. However I'd expect us to come through this with a win and probably 2 goals.
