Where do you think you'll finish in the league?
I think you'll finish in 10th.

With our current squad mid-table

Reports towards the end of last season said that you had around £15-£20 million available. Was that a load of rubbish?

So Ellis is still at the club? From being a Spurs fan and suffering all those miserable years under the narrow-minded guidance of Sugar, I have come to the conclusion that the buck definitely stops with the chairman.
If you have a forward looking one, then your team can be great. A dinosaur though, will only make your team extinct.

He's just coming back to the club after having triple bypass surgery. Take a hint old man!

What will happen to his shares once he's gone? Does he have a son on the board?

I'd bet you Villains would be well happy is if Doug stepped down? He has kept your club back for yr's. You have a solid manager even for an ex gooner, w/out the financial support.
Why did you sell Vassell? do you reckon Phillips will increase your goals?

Sorry PoshSpur but I have no idea. Hopefully somebody like Rob who is based in Birmingham has more an idea as I'm a few continents away. From what I've read yes I think he does have a son on the board.

I know for one thing I sure would be! Doug has to be somewhat commended for his commitment to the club and keeping it out of the red. However it has come clear for sometime that he is unable to keep up with the rigours of running a EPL club and also keeping up with realistic fan ambitions (that do not include mid table by the way).
I like DOL very much as a manager although I can see why he cops it sometimes for his boring & moaning in the press however true it might be & that I started to find some of his selections a bit weird towards the end of last season.
I feel Vassell was let go to free up some money for a replacement striker it seems. I liked him however it is true that he isn't a good enough finisher. I don't think I ever saw him score from a 1-on-1 despite the many times his pace brought him one. We will miss his pace however.
Do I reckon Phillips increase our goals? Definitely. It wouldn't be hard. Despite being somewhat injury ravaged last season our league goals were as follows Angel 7, Cole 3 & Vassell 2. That is pitiful from a strike force. We got 15 from the wings with Barry 7 & Solano 8! With Angel fully fit, Phillips looking good & the possible inclusion of Baros I expect a lot more from our strikers this season

Yeah Baros and Berger in the same side would be good. Phillips has always found the net in the Prem, I expect Villa to be good, but the squad needs to grown a bit. I'd like to see Djemba x2 do well. As hitzelberger..not sure of the spelling. will be a loss. He seemed like a decent player. Also Steven Davis looks like a solid player.

DJx2 will be interesting after a full pre-season. As will Berson. I'm not sure about Hitzlsperger. He was the perfect sub player but he wanted first team football & everytime we started him he was crap. The thing Villa fans can't get over is how media pundits & opposition fans rave on about his work rate when it was very poor! We will miss his fire power in the middle of the park though. Davis looks great! Needs to work on his finishing though...

Ellis having a son on the board isn't a good thing because as Ellis is 149, his son must be around 80 years of age.
You definitely need a chairman with young and fresh ideas.
I cannot believe that Vassell was sold to generate money??
Did you know that each Premiership club was given a cheque for £8 million this week by the Premier League for the TV Rights? And that each club will receive around £1 million per month until the end of the season?
Why do Villa have no money? They have no debt. Something dodgy is going on.

I'm not entirely sure that was the reason, but from memory he had 1 year left on his contract and we got an offer. Despite the fact that he simply wasn't performing.
We have to pay a lot of money to a few players contracts we cancelled when we had to cut our list a few years ago. We continually make financial losses & our chairman is a survere tightass

I don't believe that you make losses every year. That is impossible.
It is because, as you said, your chairman has a tight arse.
