I've had this porblem ever since my pre-season for HS started. any time I practice without taking pain pills before practice, the back of my leg starts hurting. Like on the back of my leg, right below where the knee on the side is. I've tried eating more protein and whatever and it's still not working. And yes, we do stretch and warp-up as a team. ANy suggestions?

you might have strained your hamstring. The only thing you can do is relax. haha protein won't do sh!t here.

Get yourself a compression wrap. or get a knee compression sleeve. they'll keep the hamstrings warm and loose, which will help a little bit.

But you really have to rest your legs if you want to play without and further injuries this season.

Well, it's not that big of a deal for me to sit out games and/or practices. I'd rather take pain pills everyday than do that

Yeah that's what I said before I blew my knee.

After having to sit out for the whole season, ruin my winter getting my surgery, and spending everyday after that until now doing rehab and post-rehab so that I could be fit to play my last season in college, I'd rather sit out a few games than go through that again.

Very matcho right to the point your leg goes ping and you tear the muscle end from the bone or snap it, at which point you wont be to happy when they have to graft the muscle back to the leg by breaking a bit of bone off and sealing it back on trapping the muscle.
But seriously if you can play without pain pills then do so but pain pills just let you make it worse, sounds like a strained hamstring can be buggers but try restin or maby jumping round on your tip toes will hurt but will loosen it up. Best bet is just rest then some extra weight lifting for your lower legs when the pains subsided.

hey man, whatever floats your boat. but if you do end up getting hurt and ruining your last HS season, I'm gonna send you the lyrics to the "I Told You So" song.

the only thing pain pills will do to you is worsen the injury because you can't feel it. not to mention the fact that your brain will spin slower when you need to make so many quick decisions on the field.

Yer its not really a case of play the rest of the season pilled up, doesnt mean you wont break before the end of the season, option 1: play bad for the rest of the season and get lucky, option 2: play bad a couple of games then spend some quality time in a hospital bed, option 3: sit out a couple of games at the most an play the season out in style?

(This is coming from someone who hasnt played a full sized competative game in 9 months because im awating an operation on my knee. Im also going into my final year of uni an realise too that this is my last year of possible uni football with trials in sept and my knee op expected to be in oct. So looks like im completly screwed. Hence, count yourself lucky)
